I know it’s not much, but I wanted to send you this special thanks because you’ve helped this 40 year old late bloomer figure skater take his skills to the next level. Your channel means a lot to me and your excellent teaching style has been a blessing to me over the last two years. The best figure skating tutorials I’ve ever come across. So thanks again!
@@CoachJulia My pleasure! The public skating season began a few weeks ago here in Mannheim, Germany and I am already landing solid waltz jumps and now working on refining my backward edges. Next up: toe loop! Excited! I feel so lucky to have a great rink just minutes from my apartment.
Hi coach Julia, I just wanted to let you know that what you do has such a big impact, I know it's not only me but in my experience, watching your videos feels way more like a tutorial: you make figure skating accessible to anyone, as an adult learning this sport I particularly appreciate your energy, I just feel that learning and even challenging myself for pure pleasure is right, unlike most teachers do. I feel that I can progress a lot and that I don't need stress or guilt to be great. Thank you so much for your tips and challenges, as much for its content as for the way you give it to us. Can't wait to try my best on this year's challenge! This will be new for me! Take care
Coach Julia, you are so smart to teach the footwork first for your Christmas program early. I had so much fun learning and participating in your christmas program last year- I liked it even better than my own program! Looking forward to doing it again this year!
I'm so excited to learn this footwork! Do you have any recommendations for filming at the end? My rink is typically always busy so I'm not sure if I'd be able to get a people free recording.
I have a couple of ideas. First, do you have someone who could film and follow you around? As long as you are the focus, a few people on the sidelines is fine. I have received videos in the past with public session skaters in the background. The other idea is to film in sections and then put them together into one cohesive video, this does take a basic editing app though.
Julia thank you and your talented videographer as always for that zoom detail starting @09:04 as you know I am a super adult (5th decade in life) skater. So I will shoot for your christmas thing but with your demo@09:51 back toe run which by the way you execute so gracefully... I have to see(I slow-mowed it and it looks fun but kinda nerve wrecking element 🤔😲😟😅 I will need to review your previous toe pick elements) regardless I will still practice even if I may not nail it by x-mas. You are my "go to" coz you always smile and positive vibes. Never forget adult beginners like me even though know you are so much more seasoned ! 💛⛸️
Awe. Thank you so much! I appreciate you! Just do your best to learn it, but in the end feel free to make it your own so that you have a footwork sequence/program you can perform and feel happy with! We are all at different places with skating, the important thing is to participate, and keep challenging ourselves.
Hi Coach Julia, I have been self learning figure skating by watching your videos. They are super helpful! Hoping to participate in the program! More motivation to practice skating!!🤩
This is so much fun! Unfortunately the rink in my town is opening on Christmas (and only opened for 3 months a year) 😢 but I’m looking forward to the finished video with all the clips!
I think I might combine the two this time! Last year I couldn’t do back threes, let alone any difficult turns, but I have them now as well as some twizzles and brackets so while the advanced one may be a bit much for me I’m excited to combine these into an “intermediate” version!
Hey Coach Julia, I'm looking to upgrade skates later this year or beginning of next year, could u make a video on which type of intermediate skates you recommend
Hi, Is the patreon the same as the youtube subscription linked above? Also, how do you recommend we remember the moves? Do you keep a list on a small piece of paper, or use the diagram? Thank you!
This is definitely adding to my motivation to get working seriously on my mohawks! I've got a question: when you're stepping from the LFO 3-turn into the RFO 3-turn, is that step technically a... hm, well not a mohawk because it changes edge, but is it a *something*, or is it just a "yeah, nah, no-one ever bothered naming that" 😀?
Yes! I love that idea, I have had other people do this as a group and it works out nice. If you need to tweak the choreography a bit to fit that is fine as well.
Well, can you flip it all? You should learn all footwork both ways, regardless of whether you are clockwise or counter closckwise. And footwork patterns use both sides of rotation, and both feet. So footwork shouldn’t be thought of the same way as jumps and spins. But I do understand one side feeling harder.
@@CoachJulia I will definitely try both ways 🙂 I started skating in January as an absolute beginner with no experience at the age of 28 so I’ve just not gained the confidence on both feet yet. One side feels comfy and fluid and the other just isn’t and looks clunky - but I still work on both. I tend to flip everything normally but will take the challenge of doing it “the normal way” too (I even try jumps and spins in both directions on occasion 🤢) when I feel confident enough to do so. A lot of the time, I just can’t bring myself to because of the crippling anxiety of failure 👌🥲

Hi Coach, great sequence, I'm gonna be learning this as soon as I hit the ice
I will see what I can put together for arms. Thanks for the suggestion!
I'm gonna try to learn this as a motivation to get back to skating as I'm completely self taught
You should definitely go for it!

I can’t tell how excited I am coach Julia!!!! I’ll practise everyday !!!!! :D
Awesome!! I am excited that you are excited!!
Hi Coach :) I started skating this year for the first time in my life and I've been watching your tutorials to help me progress
Yay! Excited to have you participate!
Yes! I hope to participate in this year’s christmas compilation. Now someone please play the video. 😂
Yay! I hope you do participate!
Again such an awesome stepsequence :) Starting right away - that inside three turn... Happy skatings, Coach Julia.
You got this!

I am so happy to help your skating journey!
I will try to do it with inline figure skates !!! I will submit it ,if i can !!
Please do!
So gorgeous Coach Julia! I can’t wait to try out this beautiful footwork soon!!
Oh I am so glad you like it!

Oh what a bummer. But great that a rink will be opening up at least.
Awesome video, I can’t wait to start practicing this and learning my backwards Mohawks 😅
Yay! Good luck with your practice!
I am going to see if I can recruit some of my adult skating friends to do this with me!!
I love that!!

Hi coach, do you have a suggestion for music? I am struggling to find one that I think it fits this choreography. Or do you have already a music?
Did you already have the second part of the the choreography? I can't find it
Hey there, I assume you found the music based on your comments on Sunday?
Yes, thank you. I will send you a msg on your Instagram 😉
Am i supposed to learn the easy version before going to advanced or can i do.just advanced if I'm at that level already.
You can learn whichever you prefer!

Technically it is a Choctaw- or ‘S step’. Good question!
@@CoachJulia Awesome, thank you!
Sooo, I meant this choreography in group to perform in our Christmas show (3 adults beginners one man and two women).. do you think it would work?
Yes! I love that idea, I have had other people do this as a group and it works out nice. If you need to tweak the choreography a bit to fit that is fine as well.
@@CoachJulia perfect. Thank you ❤️
Challenge accepted!
Yay!! I like hearing that!
Christmas in October?! Blasphemy 😮🥺
Lol, well, if you are going to perform a routine in December, you need to start practicing in October. 🤷♀️
@@CoachJulia sorry coach, gotta work on my halloween outfit this week. I'm going to out as a rollerblading ballerina. 💃🎃
@@SpitefulAZ sounds like fun!
