Something I got wrong in this video: Hexagram 11 (Flow) is actually Earth over Heaven, or Receptivity over Force. Hexagram 12 (Obstruction) is actually Heaven over Earth, or Force over Receptivity. This interpretation would mean that when we're more open than foreceful, our energy can flow better than when we're more forceful than open.
Also, it's pronounced LIBE-nitz, according to our commenters.

It say this is more analogous to FP than to OOP. OOP is not as much about the objects as it is about the messages that are passed between them.
FP is about categories/sets and transformations and relations, algebraic constructions and typeclasses.

      @@RemcoPeggeman @RemcoPeggeman dude, it was a joke.
There's a bit of a leap between the monads of metaphysics and the monads of FP. If I had to argue the point, I'd say platonic forms and enumeration are more analogous with OOP. But, dude, it was a joke 😁

This series is SO good. Bought the book, have been turning it over in my mind for days. So much of what you laid out is coherent & additive with work I've been doing on my own for the last 5 years. I actually have bought additional copies, 4 so far more coming soon, to hand out to my friends for them to read. You did such a good job of explaining processes of occulted abstraction that I've been struggling, due to their nature, to explain to others. Also your explanation of why dead languages are used in spellcraft is brilliant in its simplicity. Excited for the next video.

For me this is a long series of "hm hm ok let him cook". I've long had an interest in esotericism and the paranormal, but have since fallen off because inevitably every way I tried to formulate cosmology it conflicted with my values of consistency and evidentiality. I disagree with most of the philosophies you present but it feels like you're circling around something at the semantic center so I'm awaiting what revelation that might be. Something to do with the semiotics of affordances and breaking duality? That gets my inner transhumanist excited

I've been waiting for the Theory of Forms to pop up, so when it actually did in this video it was a sort of jumpscare! 😄
Hopefully you'll touch on Kantian philosophy and the epistemological implications of these ideas.
In response to this video, I'd say that the western esoteric tradition has always had a problem with syncretism, ultimately missing depth within the individual practices it seeks to build upon. Many schools of thought incorporated into Gnostic or Hermetic teaching contain enough nuance to study for a lifetime on their own, which highlights the absurdity of using incomplete understandings of each in pursuit of truth. This tends to create a false perception of enlightenment as an endpoint or goal, but the supposition that one can build truth out of enough knowledge is unjustifiable, and consequently an endless endeavor. In contrast, as the Buddha taught, nirvana is not the result of the path, nirvana simply is.
The title Liber Indigo could be in reference to the many esoteric texts following similar naming conventions, notably among them Jung's Liber Novus, but it seems fittingly comedic for Crowley's 'tables of correspondences', Liber 777, to also come to mind in comparison of how you connect so many ideas. Despite my above comment this is not a criticism, I enjoy the food for thought and the tone of these videos. Looking forward to reading your book, and future videos. Love you too!

Fascinating series, I love this sort of thing, weaving a braid of ideas. My view might be summed up as "experiential representationalism", in that there may be an infinite number of experientially equivalent representations of the structure of reality, and it follows that if they are experientially equivalent, we could not distinguish between them. Hence, for as long as the representation corresponds to experience, it is sufficient. At a deeper level, I do suppose that there is be a definite form, or structure, to reality, but that form need not be necessarily tied to a particular representation.

    love your style.
all quanta (information), regardless of the layers of abstraction (i.e. zero's and one's), is physically rooted in the perturbation of a medium -- fluctuation of a substrate.
have ever considered the difference between Light and illumination?

  • @AdrianMagni

Could there be an opposite of Gnosticism, where we consider the physical world to be the ideal and our attempts to name and categorise things just obscure them?
Is that just reductionist materialism or is there something more interesting there?

    • @liber-indigo
      @liber-indigo  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Oh yeah, several schools of thought in that arena. And it's analogous to the idea of an interface. Language, in its demand for categorization, limits our ability to apprehend reality directly. This is what artists struggle against when they render something (read Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain).
The impositions of language are also what various mystical traditions try to overcome with an emphasis on direct experience or gnosis. And then there's post-structuralism, which I'm not qualified to expound upon, but Derrida is a big voice in that realm.
"The map is not the territory" - Alfred Korzybski (general semantics)

Interesting presentation as per usual, good work. I'm tempted to pick up the book-not that I have much free time at the moment, alas-so as to not wait for future parts.
One little thing though... the name's LEIbniz, read like "lie" and not like "lee". (You'd read it like "lee" if it were spelt LIEB-niz, which likely makes it even more confusing for the native English speaker.)

I bought the ebook as a form of donation, I also can't find time to read it. Definitely will one day. Thanks for the pronounciation part, it drove a little bit upset.

You said we were going here, but i was hoping you would maintain some sort of thread between the two. There is no logical thread here

Great video, as always! I would be interested in buying the book, but English is not my main language, so I fear I may not understand it well. Will it ever be translated to other languages (like Italian) 😅?

Is this heading towards a theory of everything?
    This has is so good!
Will there be an explanation for how some siblings can tell when something has happened to the other. External consciousness maybe. Overlapping storage in the simulation.
