Seems like a lifetime ago playing alongside him at that god awful school concert. Amazing seeing how far he's come

Most of the musicians & I've watched copious interviews don't read music.... Which thank god, because I thought I was a millennial tit. So that's just dandy

Annoys me the way Jake never mentions Bob Dylan, the greatest singer/songwriter ever and yet he'll mention don McLean.. Jake was good a few years ago and I had big hopes for him, but he couldn't wipe Dylan's arse when it comes to stage presence, songwriting preforming, or coolness!

Hi John, he is entitled to his own taste, isn't he? Mentioning Don McLean takes nothing away from Bob Dylan. Just as mentioning Dylan would take nothing away from Smokey Robinson or, indeed, mentioning Smokey would take nothing away from Joni Mitchell and so on. The anecdote in which he mentions Don McLean is one where he describes hearing "Vincent" as a child and that being a touchstone for his appreciation of music. It was happenstance, in all likelihood, that it was Don McLean's song that was the first he recalls enjoying. As far as I'm aware you are not related to Jake personally or professionally so I am not sure what you mean when you say you "had big hopes for him", though your achievements must clearly dwarf those of Jake for you to be implying that he has not delivered on your "hopes for him". I don't normally reply to comments due to limited time but, in all honesty, I have no idea why you felt the need to use foul language and imagery to attack someone just because they didn't mention Bob Dylan when you wanted them to. I also don't think Dylan himself would view your aggressive, mean spirited trolling of a young artist as particularly "cool". Please would you kindly take your negativity elsewhere.

@@gmoatpc well said Tom !!! the first song i heard of Jake was Country Song and i was just thinking waaaww such a young guy is singing the way i most like music....and that was because i was searching his music on the internet when he would support noel gallagher in 2012... and i was just impressed then and still now what he is doing.... and i never saw him as a new Dylan etc... he just is doing his thing and i always look out for his new music he always surprise me...thanks for this nice interview.

Why would you take so much time to write a comment full of negativity?

@@gmoatpc well said Tom. Jake is his own man and follows his own path. Really enjoyed your interview by the way.
