Kevin - I actually have a CCW specific purse from "Gun Totin' Mamas" - it has exactly what you're pointing out here - a separate specific compartment, w/ the Velcro and a holster which also has Velcro! However, the one other thing I use is common sense! My kids, my grandkids, and everyone else knows that NO ONE even touches my purse w/out my permission - especially because my gun is in it at virtually all times! If anyone wants anything that might be in my purse - they don't even bring it to me to get it out for them - they just ask me to get it for them as soon as I can! Period! Feel free to add that to your vid if you think it will help! Thx - for everything!
My holster is awesome - it's made out of leather just like my purse and the Velcro is on both sides - both on the holster and inside its designated pocket because you can switch it for right or left handed - there is also another strip of Velcro on top where it wraps around the barrel! They have all kinds of styles and I found this one on eBay - they're expensive but obviously worth it!
Kevin, I'm a USCCA member - I appreciate this video, but I agree with some of the other posters that what's missing is the exhortation not to ever put your firearm in the care, custody or control of another person, such as putting your purse in front of your toddler. In my mind, even if she had the gear you outlined in this video, there's still a possibility the outcome would've been the same. If someone wants to go an extra step I think a level one retention holster inside the purse might have defeated the toddler, but the best method is always keep the purse on you, not in the cart.
ON YOU is the only other thing the woman in Idaho could have done to keep what happened from happening. Her purse WAS a concealed carry purse...but she left it in the cart.
Good advice, though I believe it was reported that the woman in Idaho had a designated carry purse recently gifted to her by her husband. The problem there was she left the purse unsecured in the shopping cart...with the toddler. Diligence is the way to prevent accidents.
I going to grocery stores and I could just about pick out the guys that are carrying most these men are carrying those little chest packs that that fits across the shoulder automatically you know they got a gun in there already had the little and the fanny packs if I was going to do something or Rob somebody's first thing I would grab is the fanny pack the chess bag if it's a woman grab a purse I used to tell my mother when she carried her gun she always carried in her purse I said some people knew she carried a gun first thing they're going to do a grab her purse
I'm a professional tucked in kind of guy so concealing is rather difficult. Ive been looking for a messenger bag that looks professional, but doesn't look feminine, but haven't had any luck. Do you have any suggestions?
Sneaky Pete holsters, its kinda like a belt pda case and my friend has one and nobody looks at it wierd, people hardly ever ask what it is, and he just says its a utility pouch, as he wears a leatherman as well. They look really professional too, or personally I have an AlienGear Supertuck, and its a holster you can tuck over... Hope those help, good luck!
P.s. if you can't find a dedicated Ccw bag you like/can afford like my mother you could find a bag with the features you like and a pocket that will fit your gun, and just use a friction holster, there are a few brands Sticky, or Remora, and it will work ALMOST as good as velcro. My mother has never had an issue with her sticky holster sliding, or coming out with the gun. Just something I thought of right after I clicked send lol again, good luck.
If the firearm is not under your control, I recommend the chamber empty at a minimum. With kids I prefer that the adult have the loaded magazine in their possession if the firearm is not locked in the safe. Slower? Yes! Much safer.
Nothing mentioned in this video addresses the issue of a child taking a parent's firearm and using it inappropriately, yet the topic is repeated like there's a relation.
Sher had all the things suggested except the holster was not large enough to cover the entire trigger. Only thing she did wrong was left it in the shopping cart for a few seconds. She was well trained and educated on guns really a tragedy. She was even a competition shooter. My sister suggest women carry the on body holsters that don't look like a holster they look like they are for a book or a large phone. Much safety to carry on person.
I would like to know how the holster is retained inside the bag if as you say in the video both the bag and the holster have the loop side of the Velcro.
She was carrying in a purse designed for concealed carry with a designated pocket for the gun. It was zipped in that pocket. Nothing shown here would have kept that kid on that day from accessing the gun. I don't know if she had a holster that covered the trigger, but that is not enough. She needed to have the purse over her shoulder under her control. I rarely carry in a fanny pack designed for cc and with a dedicated pocket in a retention device that covers the trigger. It is on me or in my safe. That is how you carry off body.
What people over look is the advantage of off body carry. You can pocket carry a mouse gun as back up with a main gun off body. The advantage is that it will work with most attire and activities and you can carry a full size or more with several mags. Sometimes I wonder if all this pocket carry/waist carry trend in itself is some form of gun control. You can only carry a smaller low capacity gun because of it. Not to mention potentially dangerous since they are so much harder to aim and shoot. In regards to the story of the woman and child, there are other stories of children grabbing a gun from a waist holster and shooting the parent. That's why I advocate carrying with safeties or Israeli carry if the gun doesn't have safeties. Great idea on the velcro. Velcro holsters would allow one to relocate the gun in a car or home, business too. Just put velcro material wherever you want to mount the holster.
You are about to get robbed the thief will take your pocket book and run. Now you just handed a criminal a gun. Carry your gun on you, period!. Start to accommodate your wardrobe to accommodate your gun. Never carry your gun off your body. You should always be in control of your gun and leaving it in your pocket book off your body is a bad idea.
Thank you. Will share.

I'm looking into getting a GTM purse. How safe is the holster?
My holster is awesome - it's made out of leather just like my purse and the Velcro is on both sides - both on the holster and inside its designated pocket because you can switch it for right or left handed - there is also another strip of Velcro on top where it wraps around the barrel! A link to "Gun 🔫 Totin Mamas" would be be helpful. Thanks.

I would also add to always have your purse on you. Preferably cross shoulder.

Can you put up a link to where you got that holster. All I've seen online is the soft fabric Velcro holsters.

Tip: people who carry guns, usually carry knives, you might get stabbed trying rob someone in the scenario you’re describing 🤷🏾♂️

I am pretty sure that the bag and holster have opposite sides of Velcro, and you stick one on the other.

There are only 2 places my firearm is at any given time. In my gun safe by my bed, or on my hip. NO WHERE ELSE.

Where do you buy those velcro holsters?
