    There's a BrewStew video where he recounts the tale of a childhood friend having an epileptic seizure. As an epileptic myself, I found his take on the whole incident beyond amusing. I'd like to see you do some commentary about epilepsy to help destigmatize it. We're just normal people trying to live normal lives.

    Had my gallbladder removed with a 3.5 cm stone in it after 2 weeks of agony, and when I was waiting to get prepared for surgery there was a younger girl there for the same reason but she was in the middle of a pain attack. Screaming and crying terribly. I felt pretty bad because she was scheduled after me and they would not give her anything for the pain. It was a noisy line for the robo-knife that day.

    For hot peppers drinking milk is best. Drink lots of it just after eating the hot pepper to neutralize it before it hurts your mouth or stomach too bad. It theoretically neutralizes the capsaicin (the chemical in the pepper that makes it hot). Drink several cups of milk after eating a super hot pepper, not only tsoo get rid of the mouth pain, but also it doesn't give you too much stomach burn or gas and diarrhea.

    That sequence with the skateboard and scooters makes me cringe and just confirms to me why I want my husband to sell his motorcycle. Last time he fell off he somehow managed to get crazy road rash on all four limbs at once. Trudging back and forth daily to the clinic here so they could scrape out his injuries daily was not a lot of fun.

    • @gurvmlk
      @gurvmlk ปีที่แล้ว

      And he still rides it? Got more guts than I do. I remember wanting a motorcycle when I was very young because I thought it would be cool. Then when I was in, I believe, 3rd grade, I had an incident wherein I was tossed from a moving van into the street because my door flung open going around a corner. Immediately lost all interest in ever going near a motorcycle, if that could happen from being inside a sealed vehicle.

    I flipped a four-wheel ATV after hitting a fence post. It landed on my head which bled enormously. My uncle (an army special forces medic) had to bandage it up with military-grade bandages so that I would stop squirting blood. I then had to sit in the back of my dad's van on the fourty-five minute drive to the Emergency Room for 26 stitches. I haven't touched an ATV since.

    I remember once when I was riding a bike with handle brakes for the first time and, out of control, I crashed into a fence and hung ridiculously over it. It was surprisingly tall! I couldn't go backward to get on my feet and I couldn't go forward and gain purchase with my hands; there was no place to hold onto, and I was quite balanced.
    The house owner ran into her yard at me and she yelled at me to get off the fence.
    I slumped in a sigh and calmly said, "Lady, if I could, I would." Believe me, I did not want to be on her fence!

    ALRIGHT, back when I was an 8 year old, I slammed my thumb in a Green Jeep Honda. I screamed and cried for only 2 hours. Now, I'm not sure if you're all aware of having your thumb smashed, but there was some bleeding under my nail that was causing severe pressure on my thumb. Needless to say, I'm in the doctor's office and he's telling me that he needs to drill a hole through my fucking nail to release the pressure and blood. I have never screamed so much in my whole fucking life as I did then. Begging to be put under so I can escape this hellish experience as he drills into my fucking nail WITH A NEEDLE.
    Long story short: The nail fell off and now I have severe needle trauma where every time I have to get a shot, I look at the ceiling and let my arm go limp so I can deal with it.

    • @gurvmlk
      @gurvmlk ปีที่แล้ว

      Man, I can only imagine. I never had anything like that happen when that young, but I have definitely had bleeding underneath my nail as a teenager and adult. I never went to the doctor because I was old enough to just endure the painful pressure. But it is indeed painful, and takes a long time to pass on its own.

    When I was working for Monterey House (Mexican Restaurant), I sorta cut my wrist on plates.
    I was the busboy, I was taking said plates to the kitchen area when I hit a slick spot on the floor and went DOWN.
    Thinking I only nicked myself since I didn't Feel the cut, I was surprised to find a 2 in. V-ing wound, that would need four stitches just above my watch band on the underside of my wrist.
    Found out that it slipped between a nerve and tendon and nipped the bone. Was told by the doctor not only if I do it again, Try and do it the Exact same way (*he must have known me well, though this was the First time having met him). The 2nd thing he told me, was a little one way would NOT be able to bend my hand up and down, another side to side.
    Oh yeah, our New manager was only there maybe under a week or two, so he didn't know his way around Bartlesville yet. Plus the Assitant manager said either way I'd be screwed when it came to bending my wrist. Don't know if he Meant it to be taken as a Double Entendre by me. But it did.
    (Oh, and No when I cut my wrist it was Spewing out like a lawn sprinkler, it was more like a drink from a slit in a cup)
    (*When I was younger mom would carry around insurance papers in her purse, because of all 3 of us kids, I was the one you could bet would get hurt doing something. This would be the First thing that would come close to a bone, since I --Knock on wood-- never have broken one, not even with my hand years later.)

    I have a story that’s like the scooter one, I was riding my bike down a hill with my older cousin (he’s two years above me) and I wanted to impress him…so I took my feet off the pedals, couldn’t stop, and slammed into a chain that stopped me from going into the lake. I did a 360 in the air and landed flat on my stomach. I didn’t break a single bone. Only a few scrapes on my forehead. Dunno how I’m alive.

    As an 80's/90's kid, I can ASSURE YOU that at least through the 90's, NO... ABSOLUTELY NO "toy chemistry set" was just a bunch of funny colored water with different labels!!! They were EXPLICITLY serious about the chemicals, reactions, and all the supplies inherently involved in those sets, down to the warning NOT to pour the glycerine into the permanganate... or vice versa...
    ...among others.
    The problems with those chemistry sets (among many "play sets" sold in technical and scientific shops and kiosks at malls all over the nation, is that Parents almost NEVER read those warnings or instructions... including the very large BOLD PRINT on the FRONT of the boxes, "NOT without ADULT supervision" and the like... AND of course, when we KIDS would get into the warnings, it was like reading a step-by-step CHALLENGE...
    WHY should you never mix glycerine and permanganate??? FIRE WITHOUT MATCHES... that's why. No. You do NOT have to ask me how I know that, nor how I could recall it instantly without Scroogle. You know EASILY by this point in this post EXACTLY how I found out... and probably what happened to the family cat, and my eyebrows for about six months at a time...
    Having advanced to model rockets, and eventually even making those rockets (and other things) on my own, it's probably nothing short of a miracle that I even made it to adulthood... Some of us were just "dumb lucky" I guess... BUT even with "Action Park" and some of the fondest memories of my childhood, any further elaboration will sound more like child abuse and neglect than "growing up" or "formative years"... ;o)

    I had food poisoning really bad one time. I've had it a few times but.. that one time.. I was launching orange out my rear for several days. I was already very dehydrated & going through some kidney issues. I had to be admitted to the hospital again because my kidneys were trying to go out again. I told them about having the runs. They put a poop catcher in the toilet & told me they needed a sample. By that time I was shooting black mud out my rear. It was extremely foul. About a week goes by & I had a follow up appointment with my doctor. Apparently they had wrote me an antibiotic prescription & never told me. She said the food illness was from under cooked meat. Then the next appointment I had with her a week later, she told me it was from someone not washing their hands & it was a poop born illness. Needless to say I have horrible doctors who never seem to know what's going on. I've been prescribed the wrong medication, given wrong diagnosis for my kidneys & honestly treated like crap. I had to figure out 2 of my issues & still waiting more than two years for them to figure out what is going on with my kidneys. I have something on my adrenal gland & they have done nothing to figure out what it is. I waited over a year to get an appointment with a specialist, then was told they won't deal with me. Now the specialist finally gave me an appointment... which will be less of an appointment & more of an interview. A big waste of time. If I had the money they would receive a huge malpractice lawsuit. The worst thing is, it's supposed to be the best hospital in my city & probably state. But I've never been to a hospital where they have signs everywhere stating that it's a felony to hit a doctor... kind of sounds like it's happened way too many times. Once a doctor got in my space cursing at me with a threatening posture, it was because i told him he was wrong about his diagnosis. I overheard a nurse talk about another nurse slashing her tires & nothing was done about it even though it was on camera. & another nurse was called to a room where she was surrounded by several other nurses & threatened. What a chit show. They need a huge dismantling of the whole hospital.

    I've gotten super bad food poisoning from McDonald's one time that lasted a week. It literally felt like like a circle of 7 knifes slowly sinking into my guts while I could barely move except for when I needed to violently shit myself. It was the absolute worst.

    I had the whole multi-IV thing happen recently. I had my gallbladder removed. I had IV of antibiotics to make sure I don't get an infection. Well they need to give me another medicine that was incompatible with the antibiotics so they stuck a second IV in me. It sucked!
