Great point in fact the GR3 is next up for testing. It’s sitting by the door right now and will have its full review soon. I will absolutely be comparing the two as the gr max is fresh on my mind
Comprehensive review, as always. I'm fascinated by this shoe and appreciate the 6 mm heel drop (but not the weight). However, I'm still unclear where this would fit into an Asics shoe rotation: Novablast 4 for easy & recovery runs, Magic Speed 4 for tempo/threshold, Metaspeed LD for speed/track, Superblast for long runs, SkyP for race day. Where would the Glideride Max fit in? Thanks, Jason.
Thank you so much. I like a 6mm drop, especially for this shoe. I can see how it wouldn’t fit. I don’t think it needs too or is supposed too. Maybe it’s own league? I wonder if it is intended for a few different jobs? I can see it being a daily, soft enough for recovery and long run shoe but that’s about it. The weight is definitely there but something about the geometry makes that less of an issue (guidesole, foam?)-this might be the sleeper for 2024
@RunningDadAdventures I see that. However, the one and only other issue is the carbon plate. I'm trying to minimize the reliance on plates because I want to feel like I'm doing the work rather than having the plate do the work for me. Plates should be race-specific, IMHO. I suppose the GR Max can be used for long runs at cruising pace, and the Superblast is used for long runs with workouts, like fast finish and surges. Just a thought. Thx again.
Agreed. I think this is an EVA plate meant to preserve shape and increase toe spring but serves same purpose. I think of non plated DIY shoes as flexible-ish yet protective and mostly if not all my effort. That said I do like the rocker outsole on shoes but I watch the foam softness give my weight as the whole system can break down under load and defeat the purpose. Great stuff
This would replace the Novablast for me. I prefer rocker style shoes for slow paces. That's the beauty with ASICS they almost have two different types of rotation which end up with either the Edge or Sky Paris depending on your running gait.
It’s true. What I see is this color and a black one. Yup. ASICS is dragging it out just like the last set. If what they do is like their historical output is a really good color way in the spring 🤷♂️
The nb4 is different. That a really lined budget bounce shoe. Nb4 really nice for forefoot and midfoot and just ok at heel strike. Nb4 good for speed work. GlideRide really great at long slow distance and heel strike and does good with midfoot. Not great at forefoot. I wouldn’t consider the gr max for tempo or speed but it can be done.
Great question. I am also a midfoot striker and have the MagMax. The mag did great for the heel strike and pretty good for a midfoot. I feel the gr did less well for a forward/mid and better for a more posterior midfoot/heel strike. Something about the sweet spot of the the ff blast max and eco, plus the drop made magic happen. I liked the MagMax but I LOVED the GR MAX hope this helps
Hey thanks for sharing your experience. It’s interesting how different people experience a shoe. Sorry you hated it. Hopefully there’s something better out there for you. Lucky we’re at a time where there’s lots to choose from
thanks for the review, a comparison to the Glideride 3 would be helpful

Love the review, man! PLEASE tell me they’re also comfortable to walk in 🙏
Yes, definitely 💯
@@RunningNPAdventures yes! Thanks man!
@@BuenoReviews of course! Take care
I want this shoe, but no way am I getting it in that colour! Come on Asics release some nicer options

@RunningDadAdventures I want the black version, but Asics haven't released that colourway in the UK 😂
O I see. That’s annoying. Sorry bud. Soon though 😊
Is it better than NB4? Can do tempo run and does it suits to forefoot striker.

Awesome so happy you’re here!
How would you compare this to the Puma Maxmax for a midfoot striker?

Thanks for the answer!
No problem!
I am a heel striker, but I hate this shoe. I find it really sluggish and a lot of work to get going. I've done a 20 and 10km run and both were a slog.
