About us:
We're Jack & Megan, and in late 2020 we sold our belongings and packed our lives into our 2005 Toyota Troop Carrier to travel Australia. Our original plan was to complete a full lap of Australia and return home to Perth to resume our 'normal' lives. We decided we wanted to document our lap for the future and began sharing weekly travel vlogs of our life on the road and fell in love vlogging, filmmaking and sharing our lives with you. We completed our first lap and couldn't imagine living any other way so we decided to continue travelling and calling the Troopy home. We have gone on some crazy adventures since then and it is all thanks to you tuning in to join us every week.
Congrats on your purchase. Looks like another massive project. What a peaceful place to complete the job. Have fun!
Thanks so much! Very peaceful place you’re not wrong. It has been great so far 👍😊 Merry Christmas!
I truly admire your enthusiasm and outlook on life. You both share the same dream. Without a doubt you have a huge job ahead and I look forward to you bringing us all along on the renovation. The farm setting is so beautiful and calming. Your hard work soon turned the living accommodation into your haven. Congratulations on your purchase. So happy you went with the dual wheeler.
Thanks Linda! Can’t wait to see it all finished! Yes it’s going to be a big job but it’ll be so worth it.
Good luck on your reno, I bought a 15 foot Viscount Ambassador and I am halfway through my renovation, very rewarding when you see it starting to come together. I hope that i get to see the end of your reno as a lot of people give up halfway through, looking forward to future videos.
That's an exciting project, I wouldn't put in a wall as it restricts air circulation.
Thanks heaps! Yeah we’ve already changed our minds on that one 😆😆
You two certainly like a challenge whilst not on the road. Have you considered not partitioning the van into separate rooms? It makes the space feel much roomier. Admittedly, our van is 21’6” with only the ensuite at the rear with a wall and door. The sleeping and eating areas are all open and spacious.
Congratulations guys, have just recently renovated a 42 year old van with my wife, was a great project! with plenty of surprises and changes of plans along the way. Keen to watch this reno, great stuff.
Great job guys!! Did you document it at all? Would love to see some photos. Can’t wait to start the Reno.
Wow you guys really lucked out in scoring that property , congratulations . After seeing the job you guys did on the old landcruiser this caravan is going to look amazing . These next lot of videos are going to be epic , cant, wait . good luck .
Congrats guys, this will be amazing to watch. Have fun and Happy New Year to two beautiful people😊
Thanks so much Sharon, Happy new year! All the best for 2024 🩵
We have a split bathroom. Sink and toilet on one side and shower on other side, pocket doors on both sides that separate bedrooms and kitchen areas.
This is what we’re now thinking may be the way to go!!
Sincere congratulations 🎉✔️🥂🤗
So pleased for you guys.
Enjoy your project - as we’ll enjoy watching you. We wish you both a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎉
2024 will be great for you 😁😁

Thanks so much guys!! Can’t wait to get into the series. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you too! Thanks for all your support 😊🎄🎅
Perfect choice guys, congrats and happy times to refurbish this beauty
Thanks Tony! Hope you have a great Christmas mate 😊👍
I love my van. You won't regret it.
👍👍🎉 was hoping thats the one always loved the style of them tandam vans good luck going to be great shows coming up 😊
Also don’t forget to plan where you are going store your batteries, inverter, dc/dc charger etc. Those old vans never had any of that stuff. Maybe under the lounge near the axles and if your budget allows (maybe your sponsor will help out haha) get lithium
Excited to see how your build progresses! Honestly though the ensuite needs to be side entry so that you can step into the shower and use the toilet when required. You will see heaps of modern caravans with the toilet / shower combined that I am talking about
Wow guys you 2 are full of surprises! How lucky are you to have the farm to base yourselves for the Reno of your van. Can’t wait to see your progress 😊 love that you chose the bigger van.
woohoo! congrats guys, love a good project!
Cheers mate!!! Hope you have been well. 👍
Hope you have deep pockets 😂😂
Mertle is the perfect name for your new home.
Sending you big hugs and lots of love. You guys are amazing!
🙏😊
I love every single part of this. I cant wait to watch the reno unfold and Im glad that you guys have got some space and serenity while you build your dreams. See you next week.
Didn’t John Cougar write a song about you two?
Little ditty ‘bout Jack and Megan
Two Aussie kids doin’ up a caravan
Jack is gunna be a reno star
Megan’s debutante was doin’ up Jacks dads car
Eating up those ‘ol corn chips on a family friends farm
Megan’s sittiin’ on Jacks lap
She’s wrapped in his arms
Jack says ‘Hey Megan let’s go do up this caravan’
Megan says ‘Right with you Jack it’ll be spick and span.
Oh yeah they say that life goes on…..
Congrats on the new van. Vintage Caravan Spares in Victoria will become a great new avenue to purchase original spares. Helped me a lot in my Viscount rehab. All the best.
looks great can't wait to see the restro work
Thanks so much for watching 🙏😊
Ohh love the design for the caravan keen to see the small changes as you go, really cool that you’ve got the farm to work from. Looking forward to the build out guys ❤
The beer sold it!
Looks like a beautiful spot….very lucky to have such awesome friends to let you stay there…..have fun with the build of the caravan…..can’t wait to see the end result.
This is going to be a fun 3 month plus project! You are both so pumped and ready for it. So looking forward to see what you do with it, and ultimately, where you end up towing it to. And you got a farm to boot...bonus! Have fun, stay safe, keep well, and have yourselves a very merry Christmas!
Thanks mate!! 3 month will turn into 6 😂😂😂 but once it’s all done we will definitely be taking it on one hell of a road trip!
I honestly don’t think you guys realize what you’ve gotten yourselves in to 😅 but I’m definitely here for the ride!
Haha going to be a wild ride!
Wish you all the best off luck! Looking forward to se the magic you Will do to this new home of yours the caravan! Kind regards Erik
That will come up a treat and touring with a van is going to amaze you how good travelling is.
Can’t wait to experience a new way of travel!!
Yay good to see you got the 3rd caravan 🙌🏻 all the best renovating both homes 😛🥰
Good on you guys 👍👏👏
Omg how far from Esperance are you. We are here till September. We would love to come see you. We have a 1976 Bedford bus!!
Love the edits at the end :), and i have to admit i was stressing just looking at the caravan but glad you know what you're in for. Merry Christmas guys and look forward to the new year.
it looks amazing
🙏
Wicked I to said get the twin axle I know your going to do a fantastic rebuild of Myrtle, what’s it matter if it takes a few extra months apart from everyone wanting to see the finish luxury home on wheels your about to build.Yes don’t rule out that idea of extending her by 2’if that helps with the bathroom shower, rain heads use a lot of water might that be a problem if not on a campsite with hookup,I bought a shower head that has a venturi setting that atomise the water so cooling it’s brilliant.
You put your fairy lights up in the house!! That’s gotta make it feel more like your own space 😘
Made a huge difference!! Haha we have them on every night.
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!! You are truly blessed to have such an awesome relationship and i know it takes work!!!!!
I'm SO excited to see your project evolve and one of my things was to choose a big 12v fridge. I would think a full size is too heavy.....a dry bath would be perfect... i assume you'll have solar and lithium...... perhaps someone would sponsor that for you?????
You are in such a stunning area too...... good grief.
Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!
So glad you went that van. It’s not too far gone at all!
We definitely feel like we made the right decision!
Copper fittings and sinks are crazy light just a thought
Definitely looking into this!
You two crazy but lovely. Best wishes for reno and to next chapter
🙏 Thanks so much for watching 😊
Always amazing to follow your adventures guys ! This caravan has so much potential and I can't wait to see what it's going to become !
Good luck with all the hard work you are going to do.
Looking forward to watching the next videos about this great project !
Thanks for following along Lucas! We appreciate your kind words 🙏😊🎅🎄
Awesome Ep Guys and have fun with rebuilding Myrtle the Turtle.
Yes Myrtle the turtle haha love it!
Congrats guys...! can't wait to see the transformation...!
Thanks so much 😊
Congratulations, guys, on your purchase. So happy for you both. Project time, you are probably going to scram at times. The end result will be well worth it.
Thanks so much 😊🙏 it’s definitely not going to be an easy one haha! But like you said it’ll be totally worth it!
Looks like fun....
Too cute we just travelled half way around Aus in our Bus Myrtle, named after my partners grandmother.
How good!! Love the name guys. 😉😊
Hi guys! How amazing! So excited for you both...completely get the "omg lookat all the cleaning" we lived and worked in outback Oz, the NT and WQLD for over 6 years, it was much, we worked around with a company and some of the places...pheeeewwww weeeee...lol 😅😅
Love the adventure you are going to take on, only one solitary suggestion, if I may...look at what people are doing in you tube Van Life anything, and camping/4wd (as you know) stuff and hiking as well. There is sooooo much awsome innovation going on out there and it's like they all never meet. Amazing inspo! we are currently building a CamperVan, bought an old Toyota SLWB and are crossing all of the things...everything in every different micro society makes sense. And there are peeps out there doing it. Have a ball! Again, how exciting 🎉 love your vlogs, thank you for sharing, as always 😊
Congrats to you both on the epic purchase. Love watching your channel. This project has been on my bucket list for a while so I’m watching with great interest. 😅. Enjoy the ride, live in the moment.
We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 and a Happy New Year. May 2024 bless you both in abundance 🥳
A rain head shower. I saw Jack had prob 10cm headroom, how are you going to fit under it. Let alone have enough water.
Great pick of van n love the name Myrtle.
Don't forget to keep water tanks equal sides of axels.
You will need to make chassis stronger ,
Congrats on the new home. 🎉
Thanks so much 🙏😊
Looking forward to seeing it all happen, over the next..... 5 to 6 months was it 😂
7,8,9,10 😂😂😂
Looking forward to the restoration guys.
Thanks Graham! Looking forward to sharing it all 🥰
Awesome, this looks promising. Also quite a nice place to stay 👍🏻this will definitely help with the mood during rebuild, if you can relax and look at the beauty surrounding you 😊
The farm is so beautiful especially at sunrise and sunset!! It just lights up. Very calming. Can’t wait to share more mate 🙏😊🎄
You may need a cat and or mousetraps. I hope you don't. The bird life will be great, and the big gumtrees.I'm looking forward to your excellent photos of dry WA landscapes. Where is the water storage, is the house on mains electricity and or generator? I've got too many questions. I'll be patient and just look forward to your future. Hugs to you both.
Hey Jenny! We have a massive water tank up here all rain water so we have to be carful with water usage! Mains power luckily! The bird life has been incredible we have spotted so many unique birds. Thanks again 🙏👍
Congratulations great choice if it looks anything like what you did to your dads truck it will look amazing can't wait to see what you have in mind 🎉
Thanks so much Jay! Excited to get started 😄😄
Living the dream guys, good luck with the time line too.
Thanks so much Nick! The timeline will definitely blow out haha 😅
Time is only part of the journey as is stress and arguments, but everything together will make the perfect end product. Good luck guys and can't wait to see Myrtle 2.0..
Get a composting toilet …. So good
Natures head really easy to install
!!!! BUY THE FARM !!!!
😂😂 we wish could you imagine how many projects I’d have on the go then 😂😂😂
@@itsJackandMegan buy farm and AirBNB the caravan on the farm(next to a dam)
Well done guys , exciting stuff 💪
I'd take out the other couch area and build bathroom there
That's really fantastic guys! Congrats❤👏👏
Thanks Tom!!
I cant wait to see the magic
Since you are gutting the van cut it in half make it 2ft or 70cm longer place a club lounge in the front with kitchen behind and your ensuing over the Axel's. Shower one side toilet and bassin on the other side with your bedroom at the back giving you more privacy have fun with it. Aussie Aussie Aussie 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks for the tips mate! Appreciate it 😊🙏
Awesome editing!
Thanks so much Liam appreciate it 🙏👍😊
Great project :)
Check for internal chassis cracks😢
Congratulations legends!! I can already tell I'm going to love this as much as the FJ build!! (Maybe more😉!!)
Yieww! Can’t wait to share all the ups and downs haha
Great choice guys and can’t wait to follow along the journey with you. Is it going to have its ups and downs …yes , but is the end result going to be worth it ….. most definitely. I
You’re spot on it’ll be all worth it 😊🙏
12 volt suggestion for you guys if you are interested. I would be looking at 2 x 200ah lithium batteries to run power distribution through the van. The weight of the two batteries would be roughly between 50-60kg which would not eat too much of the Aggravated Tare Mass (ATM) which you guys will be trying to stay under. Based off the age of the van I gather you would be stripping out all wiring and replacing it to reduce potential fire hazard. Then I would run semi flexible or fixed solar panels on the roof into an Enerdrive DC to DC charger. This will allow the van the ability to stay off grid more without needing to constantly source places with powered sites. The good thing with Enerdrive is that you can use house solar panels instead of 12v panels giving more diversity with solar panel options.
If you have this sort of power in the van you can then consider things like induction cookers, 12v upright fridge, 3000w inverter which could potentially provide further weight reduction to the conventional oven/gas top cooker etc.
It’s just a suggestion of the way I would attack this. Good luck with it.
When you fit your plumbing be aware that water is limited when you are not connected to water
Your draw bar is flexing might need to beef it up
What part of the video did you see that?
That old girl is going to have more TIMBER ROT THSN TIMBER🤦♂️
Good luck kids, you’re gonna need it. 😬
It’s an ali frame 👍
@@itsJackandMegan Excellent, however there will be timber in it & it’s going to be ugly. How’s the floor looking?
Viscounts used to be $0.69 cents a packet.
Great van but don’t go smaller with the fridge. Go bigger.
Yes we have now decided bigger haha
Thought you guys are doing the caravan. Not the accommodation. 😊
Haha that's exactly what we thought 😅
Save Merv!
Good luck with that guys don't spend to much 😢😊
Thanks mate!
these old ones are stronger and better than the new rubbish
No. Just no. This will push your relationship to the extreme. If it has water damage internally, that means multiple failings of sealants externally, which happens over 50 years... We lost our caravan from severe water damage which was too expensive to repair. Let alone before you look underneath at chassis rust, suspension, and brakes. Sorry, but once you blow this thing apart, you will not be back on the road for quite a while... Hope you prove me wrong.
Yes, just yes. I hope we will too 😉
🤔 I Hope Thy Payed You Guys To Take The Van Away 🤗 I Is Going To Luv The Van Build 2024 🥳 🎄Merry Christmas 🎅 2023 🍻 Happy 🎆2024🎇 🍾🥂 Oi Oi Oi 🇦🇺
Merry Christmas Rosco!!!
i am pulling out my gas oven stove from my caravan going cheap if you’re going gas
Hey mate thanks for the offer but we won’t be going gas 👍😊
What have you guys done ? So you bought the van . Have you brought a farm with a old shed on it to go with the old caravan ? Or have I misted something here? I don’t understand why you would spend your hard earned money and all that time on something that won’t be worth much anyway. I think the best thing would be insure it for 2 grand then accidentally set fire to it😂😂😂😂. Only joking guys but it may be an idea😢😢😢😢 Jon
Going to keep this comment as motivation for the hard days of the build to prove you wrong when it's all done 😜
Greatcvideo guys! Just seeing Jack's Better Help promo you could see how much it helps him and maybe having some certainty of purpose and location for a little while seems like he is a good head space!
Make the bed into an lsland bed so someone doesn't have to climb over someone, hope you weighed it before you started???😮everything you add is a weight it all adds up😮😮😢😢
From personal experience if you are gutting it raise the kitchen bench height a little bit and standard height you'll bend over to the sink. I'd also recommend a full height dometic fridge gives you more fridge freezer space. Love it guys good onya
Hey thanks for the tips!! Will definitely raise the height of the benches! Also literally just said to Megan today I’m thinking a full height Dometic fridge would be better.
Ten outa Ten for enthusiasm kids, you’re a very patient man Jack, good luck.
Look forward to seeing the build,
Good choice going double axle 👌
Can’t wait to share it all mate! We’re very happy with our decision! Thanks again Dave 😊🎅
Absolutely fantastic. It will look million dollars when you’re finished with it.
It doesn’t really matter how long it takes .
❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching mate! We will definitely be taking our time with this one. 👍😊
Ting tong sand gropers. Hehhehe
Hello, my name is Freya i am eight years old and me and Craig my dad watch your videos every night before bed! I just wanted to say how much we love your videos! Merry christmas! From Freya and Craig :D
Hey guys, thanks so much for leaving a comment! Merry Christmas see you next year!!
Congrats and looking forward to your renovation!
Thanks Cath! Can’t wait to get on with the Reno.
I hope it's got a aluminum frame😊
It does 😉
Good stuff, either of the Viscounts will do.
I bought a 72 6berth Supreme in 2020 and improved it whilst recovering from surgery. Loved the project but did not gut it.
Found only 1 leak and added new timber at that point. Switched all over to 12v and reinstalled a gas cooktop and fridge.
Have had a few trips but now my wife is sick, so trips cancelled for the next 6mths.
Looking forward to catching up on the next episodes, because it brings back so many long days and good memories. 😊😊😊😊
Put some serious thought into aero dynamics, at the front . Look at the shape of all modern caravans, there's a very good reason for that. Is the retro look really worth the excess fuel bill and towing ability.
You definitely need to design your interior around the awesome seating ❤️
Hi guys love Myrtle.
My nickname is Murtle, cause I look like a turtle 🐢.
Love you guys.
Peter.
I look forward to the build
Looks like a grand old lady! As a vanner of 20+ years a couple of thoughts for you -
Check the weights of your car and how much you can legally tow with the van on and the car packed. Just because the specs say you can tow 2500kg, it doesn’t necessarily mean you can legally do that with a car which is fully loaded to its GVM. You need to become very familiar with the following terms-
Vehicle - Tare, GVM, GCM
Van - Tare, GTM, ATM, Towball weight
These are the Legal weights BUT you need to know your ACTUAL weights and be under the Legal values because these are what count.
The actual towball weight is included in the payload of the vehicle GVM-Tare and can be around 200-300kg
Google these terms for more info so you don't void your insurance and risk getting caught up with Transport. 🤠
Quite the project but very rewarding. Be very careful of any potential asbestos.
Happy Christmas! You guys must love kicking your own asses with the house and caravan. Makes for great content, eh?
