Them old manuals are always neat. So much information in a small book. Not like today’s manual hundreds of pages and sometimes you can get more confused when you read it!
Lumber now days is good, if you go to a lumber yard. Not Lowe's, or home depot. You more than likely would have to order it but you can get straight grain, tight knot. Ain't gonna be cheap. but you can get it.
We have several Amish lumber mills in our area. Custom cut just about anything you need. And prices are still reasonable. Nothing like that near you? Thanks for the post Ethan. Take care. Fred
It's definitely a great candidate for restoring. Will be as good as new. The way your planning on doing it. I might have missed it. But what are your plans for it? I wasn't aware you had cattle.
Hell yea that thing looks like it tore down easy I’ve been gone awhile doing custom baling work for guys looks like I got a few videos to catch up on gonna be a cool project for sure and look mean with them tires
Thanks for the video Ethan, it does suck that shit dont last forever but that's just how it goes, have a good one 🚜 are you going to your local tractor parade over the 4th of July?
Yep, New Idea made manuals that you could practical make clones of their equipment. And the orange(or red on later models) and green paint made them look really nice for some reason. The later solid grey and red looked "ok", but they lacked the personality. I personally wouldn't put tractor type tires on a pto spreader(I would have tried for truck radials myself), but it's you spreader and you can do what ever you like. Regardless, think she'll look sharp anyways.
I hate automotive tires on farm equipment. Can’t stand used tires because you never know when they are going to give out. And truck tires are useless in soft ground because they ball up and won’t turn.
@@Oliver66FarmBoy Ive used several pieces of equipment with truck tires(manure spreaders, gravity wagons, and a seed drill) and never thought the issues(which tractor style tires do help) you describe were that prevalent. But I do appreciate your argument.
I don't know Ethan, you're that far already, seems like it would be easier to just have it blasted now. You could always make the other sheet metal parts match later. That's alot of work to do twice.
A lot of cow and chicken stuff passed through those spreader blades. Nice to see the spreader re-planked and painted and given new life.
Thanks
Thanks for the great videos I really enjoy watching you do great work.
So cool you got the operators manual!

That's how I feel about Algebra Text Books back in High School it drove me apeshit.
I've got a #12 New Idea I would like to do that to... You Inspire Young Man. I'm 62, but maybe some day... I really enjoy your videos.
Nothing to it but to do it.
Looks good, won't be long before she is done and ready for work. Great job.
Thanks

Looking forward to seeing it all done Especially with the new bar tires.
Thanks
@@Oliver66FarmBoy you bet
Awesome just awesome video Ethan. Can't wait to see the end result. And love seeing teeter too. Keep them videos coming and stay safe my friend 🌞👍
Thanks
Really nice rim repairs. 👌
Thanks
Enjoying the restoration of this manure spreader. Gonna run it with the 66?
Whatever is free and has a pto.
This will be a interesting project to follow
Thanks
I heard if you mount tractor tread tires backwards it affords side traction from slipping on hills but mor importantly reduces compaction.
You mount them backwards so they will turn in soft ground.
Hell yes you did one shot one kill LOL😎💚🤙🏽🤙🏽👍🏽👍🏽👊🏼👊🏼
Dad used white oak on manure spreaders, do you have a local saw mill? White oak natural moisture repellent I've heard.
Nice rim repair!
Thanks

Only if you provide your own logs. I don’t have the time for that.
My Dad had that New Idea 2 row stock chopper and pulled it for years with an IH M. He scrapped it in the early 2000s.
Shame

Great video as always! I hope it works out for you.

I agree, getting good lumber is dang near impossible! The last project l did l went thru 2 big stacks of 1x4's to get a dozen somewhat decent boards!
Spend more time looking for lumber than you do working on the project
Your videos are perfect for eating with a bowl of cereal.
My favorite cereal is raisin brand crunch and frosted mini wheat
@@mattutke4704 Cinniman Toast Crunch is my favorite.

@@Oliver66FarmBoy I meant heavy truck tires. Never passenger tires
That’s what I meant to.

I’ve got them on my corn picker. Worthless. Midas well be on skis.
Looks like it a fun project now u need to put the loader on the 66 to load it lol
Instead of blasting the frame and etc. Check out CRC Rust converter. I think you will be impressed with the product. Thanks for the video.
Blasting is cheap and easy and I need is 100% clean so I can weld on it to fix the rust issues.
Was the original lumber White oak?
No clue
What kind of wood? Foundation grade treated? Oak? Teak?
Ummm, white pine.......
Countryview Acres channel just picked up the same spreader. Looks like he has to do much the same work to his.

Not really.
Are you fixing it to use it?
Yes
First one to watch the good video
Thanks
It will be funny when you change it back to how the last owner had it
Do what?
@@Oliver66FarmBoy I think he means to leave it outside so I can rust but because you own it that won’t happen
