Also, there is nothing that suggests malice towards humans and seems to show overall beneficent attitude towards the dead person's family/friends. That said, I get why it's contained as it is faking being someone it's not.

The reality is he knew he could never go home at that point, a lie keeps him happy and keeps the scp easily containable. Even taking morality into account, honestly it's cruel. There is nothing moral about telling the truth here, the truth is a fact plain and simple but in this instance all it will do is cause pain and misery. To use a little example. There is a very good reason why you don't go telling dementia patients that all their loved ones are dead every time they ask about them it causes nothing but pain and grief. Better to make things pleasant then tell the truth for it's own sake.
