    Im my opinion, The Witcher 2 was very charming game, with many twists and options. Loved it. On one side, it was dark, gore, raw and then on the other funny, comical and light-hearted. Very good mix of serious and light-hearted. Great game. Personally, I think I njoyed it more then Witcher 3 (except DLC Blood and Wine).

      It is very hard to balance dark and serious themes with well timed funny moments, i think that´s one of the best things that CDPR adds to all of their games atmospheres, yet the Witcher 2 was the best executed in this aspect by far.

    I love TW2
    I have played it 8 times, and most of those were on Dark.
    I love the story, characters, gameplay... perfect.

    I honestly was very surprised at the game sending you to a different location depending on your choices. I was really happy to see that.
    I also love playing as Geralt. My favourite RPGs are always the ones that allow me to play as set characters and not blank slate protagonists.
    I love the Witcher 2 a lot and I do think it feels a bit better to play than the Witcher 3 for me because it has a linear level design and isn't an open world.

      Me too, i´m kind of conflicted on if a i prefer Witcher 3 or Witcher 2, Witcher 2 certainly offers the best narrative on the franchise and the best RPG experience with the choices being so impactful, however the way CDPR was able to bring so many parts of the world alive on Witcher 3, so many characters that i love on such an epic scale (i still haven´t played an RPG that made me believe i was in an actual city, like Novigrad) it just has so much hearth, i think Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time, however i do wish more games like the Witcher 2 came out.

      @@RoleCrow1 it is really a tough call. I can flip back and forth between the two as well. But I think I do land more often than not with Witcher 2 being my favourite. It is just that perfect combination of story with no long downtime that W3 has. W3 is great but they could have trimmed the world a bit. But I do agree that W3 has the best city of any game frankly. But the series has always been good on that front.

    This is such a great analysis. It actually gives me a different perspective and now I'm willing to dive into Witcher 2 again with a different mindset. Thank you for this :) Subbed!

      I played the whole trilogy as supposed. 1,2 and then 3. The atmosphere and the darkness were the best features of Witcher 2, most charming out of the trilogy, Gore, comedy, world building. It's also better to play this game twice, and do crucial saves. There are 2 plot lines, at the same time you can play.

    The first time I finished playing Witcher 2, i had the exact same thoughts in your thumbnail. The political tension of that time was so complex and similar because of the culture conflicts. Still is. The Witcher world addresses such complicated topics and educate somewhat.

    For me it's The Witcher 1> TW2/TW3. 1 because of pure nostalgia, atmosphere (dark medieval times struck by an epidemy, death everywhere and yet some beautiful moments and sceneries appear here and there) music... just SLAV overload. You felt just like regular witcher, mutant, outcast working for a coin. The other ones you were kind of mister BIG, messing around with politics and for me lack that dark ambience etc. Yet all of those titles are top tier and honestly 1 for wins just for that nostalgic feeling.

    • @RoleCrow1

      fantastic insight, you are correct the Witcher 1 is definitely the best game in terms of making you feel like an actual Witcher like the books, not just in the atmosphere but on geralts characters design as well, he is not handsome, he is freakish looking, the other games, specially Witcher 3 made Geralt feel more like a traditional hero, that´s why i recommend 1 for hardcore Witcher fans.

    • @Spinosaurus44
      @Spinosaurus44 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      But Geralt does interfere in politics even in the books. He is by no means a normal Witcher and the last couple of books especially show this. He practically isn’t a Witcher anymore from the moment Ciri disappears on Thaned, because all he does is follow her trail and uncover the controversial truth, in this way getting entangled in major political games. So if the books are like this, then why shouldn’t the games also show Geralt as Mr. Big?

    • @RoleCrow1
      @RoleCrow1  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Spinosaurus44 yes, the whole theme of the witcher books is that Geralt is tied by destiny to be bigger than just a simple witcher, i think CDPR did a fantastic job adapting the source material and keep the story going and improving it, i don´t have a problem with him being mister BIG, yet i believe Witcher 1 hit the perfect balance between Geralt interfering in politics and also keeping his atmosphere of a freakish kind of antihero, the witcher 3 blurs that line a bit in my opinion, that´s why i´m actually excited for The Witcher 4 allowing us to play as another Witcher with a bit more grounded motivations.

    • @Spinosaurus44
      @Spinosaurus44 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RoleCrow1 yeah I think I can get behind a more grounded take on a Witcher as well, but I have no problem if the main character of the new game also gets entangled in political schemes that are way over a simple Witcher’s head. Both stories can be good if they’re done right

    I just finished it for the second time today (Roche path this time) , and it never disappoints.
    The Witcher 2 is a game from a bygone era where Game Devs dared more, because they weren't going to get cancelled so fast.
    The Witcher 2 is grim, dark and visceral. There are very harsh themes recurringly addressed in the game such as r*pe, su*cide, ethnic cleansings, pogroms, and more. In comparison, the Witcher 3 is a lot more tame and focuses more on the War as a whole and its consequences. The Witcher 2 also had some absolutely incredible soundtracks, and it felt like the Player had more of an impact on the Game's outcome. There were more choices to be made that lead to completely different scenarios.
    Don't get me wrong, i absolutely adore the Witcher 3 and i don't think either game is superior, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I'll always have a slight preference for Wild Hunt because of how absolutely perfect their renditions of some characters are, from their overall character design to their behaviour and the voice actors they hired for the job.
    After 2 whole games building up the anticipation, i couldn't have been happier about how Yennefer and Emhyr turned out. Criminally underused in the Game, but perfect in every way.

      could not agree more my friend, brilliant way to convey your thoughts, i also incline a bit more for the Witcher 3 because of the characters and being an overall more polished experience, i´m glad about CDPR success, they deserve it, yet their game design is focused on just going bigger, so we probably won´t se more games like the Witcher 2 from them, let us hope that the Witcher 4 at least takes some inspiration from assassin of kings

      @@RoleCrow1 The Witcher 2 was a product of its time when every Game Studio didn't try to out-flex the next by creating a bigger, blander open-world RPG filled with precious nothing like Starfield, whereas The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk have "big" maps (although contained) , but everywhere you go things have been laid out carefully. And well, Witcher 2 being older like the earlier Mass Effect, they felt a bit more "rail roady" but all the emphasis was on the amazing Story-telling that didn't give you time enough to pause and get bored and realise that you didn't have much of a choice in terms of destination.
      I have faith in CDPR, i loved Cyberpunk despite all the hate, they're one of the last Studios that is consistent in its quality even if it's not always apparent straight away. They haven't forgotten that character development and story-telling are the driving motors of an RPG.

    I have olayed witcher 2 a bit, but found it too overwhealing, being used to witcher 3. Combat system in particular was a turn off. Also i am leaving a sub in case u make more witcher content.
