  • After taking an in-depth look at the path of Growing Up in previous episodes, exploring how our multiple intelligences, talents, and capacities grow over time through increasingly conscious stages of development, we now turn our attention to the path of Waking Up - taking a guided tour through these temporary states of consciousness that include everything from emotional states to chemically-induced states to the direct, immediate experience of timeless reality.
Watch as Ken and Corey explore these states of consciousness in detail, revealing an infinitely renewable source of energy, resilience, and creative inspiration that rests at the very center of you.
This clip was excerpted from the full 3.5 hour discussion, in which Ken and Corey explore:
    - Magic Mushrooms and the Politics of Consciousness
    - The Neoliberalization of the Human Potential Movement
    - There Be Dragons: Mapping the Subtle Realm
    - Subtle Energy Magick?
    - What Is Evil?
    - What Is Integral Embodiment?

That experience happened for me out of nowhere, meaning, I wasn't seeking it (i didn't even know about it). My inner life has been changed completely. There is a "drive" that has accompanied it; the "drive" to help others.

Ken's health has clearly improved since this was recorded. It's good to see!

    The noble mirage:
    Enlightenment...
    To end all suffering!
To bypass all emotional pain and trauma…
    Until...
My body or my mind remind me they are there!
I then feel like a failure-I need to seek more, try harder or even:
“I am already enlightened I just have to be it.”
More trips around the transcendence mountain...
The only way off the trail is inside out!
I must face my pain, look at my repressed emotions, and rediscover my authentic self...

For some reason I thought Ken was dead. I'm glad he is still alive.

I'm so glad he brought out apophatic theology. I was studying at a catholic university for counseling where I came across theosis and deification within the Catholic Church. I came to apophatic theology and only realized it last year.
It's like the rational capacity for God dissolves and my very "conscious" relationship to God was dropped and no longer necessary.
It was this realization that books are ancient artifacts when you are one with God.

Integral Spirit - I don’t think that we really need the Buddha to teach us that in our world, that does include greed, crime, corruption, violence, and injustice, there is pain and suffering. In this sweet talk, Ken Wilber reminds us that there is also the possibility of something greater than our pain and suffering. In the higher levels of spiritual experience, the embodied experience of freedom is bliss, that of fullness is love. This author is often found to use the term Love/Bliss/Ananda. Without some degree of connection to these ways of being it is very difficult to struggle to try to make our communities and world a better place.

I so enjoy Ken as a teacher, so many spiritual insights and to touch on what he said about embodiment. . In one of my most enjoyable meditations I experienced being directly in the vault of the cosmos viewing stars and clusters of stars that emanated clouds of the most fantastic colors. This has led me to believe that consciousness creates everything...and without consciousness nothing exists. In other words there is no outer world but it is a manifestation of consciousness. I wonder if anyone else has had this experience. Please share.

Kundalini. Experiencing yourself as Shiva, a bean of light, in perfect harmony, with no beginning and no end. Everything else is the Veil of Maya, an illusion.

I had a Kundalini experience in a Temple in SE Asia a few years ago. I had it before I had heard of such a thing. it was profound to say the least. Now I am trying to find people who understand the reality I now live in. I am glad to hear these ideas.

Thank you Ken you’ve described my experience of leaving religion via seeking truth through the magic & mythologies into reason & it seems so clear to me but not others to hear to explain it is extremely refreshing especially the mystical experience aspect which is how I found your exceptional works. I’m finding that that being too in touch with my shadow is causing me anxiety and yet I don’t want to go back to sleep. What comes next?

    • @Sebastian_Gecko
      @Sebastian_Gecko 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The anxiety won't go away for a while. Get comfortable with it. Find new (rational) friends who love and support you. Keep being friendly, kind and open minded. That's what I have to say... Good Luck, bro.

My suggestion would be looking at the videos that "School of Life" does on TH-cam. I think that might engage more people.

I wish Ken - would be more Sufism - inclusive.
He does not seem averse -- but he seems less informed about it --- than Buddhism, -- or Christianity.
Which is natural I guess, -- but it is equally natural for me to want him to have explored my tradition more.
    This was beautiful regardless.

this cleared up some confusion but I still don't quite understand what the subtle state is. When someone experiences oneness with a deity form, does that experience only happen in the dream state?

    • @QED_
      @QED_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@Bruh Moment: Maybe approach it by an analogy (?) You can experience colors manifested in objects -- red apple, red stop sign, etc. But you can also experience red light in itself (from a prism or neon light). The latter is a more "subtle state" of color than the former . . .

@@QED_ No. I'm not talking about Deity Yoga. I'm talking about deity mysticism which is one of the 4 types of mystical experiences.
