Oh dear, the missingspindle is still around. I have several research projects that need to join my channel. Working on that this winter to get them tubed and blogged. My apologies for such long delays. Lois
Lois Swales Ma’am according to my view of your channel you haven’t uploaded in 3 years. I’m wondering where you you? Are you well? Will you make more videos? These have been my favorite as a new person to fiber arts! Thank you for all your videos, I hope you are well and staying safe and spinning your heart out!
I inherited a bunch of bobbins from my grandmother that passed away last year. We shared a love of fiber crafts. I haven't known what to do with the bobbins she left me I know know!!!! Thank you so much!
Please let me know of any newer content from you and a way to contact you. I am a spinner/knitter/crocheter/Inkle loom weaver. I always want to learn more from knowledgeable people who make the learning process fun. You’re “that guy.” Encore, please.
I am IN! Thank You from all of us who will follow.... it is not often I send greetings to some one setting off an undiscovered chapter in hand spinning. Lucky me, day after surfing for early period images and then getting my head around this very fresh research I was set to attend a vintage textile fair! Pryms were on to be had! not eight inch hole but little will not slow up my next adventure. Spindle keen..... since about 2003 ish. Now researching lead cloth seals. I'm currently working a story in a fantasy/medieval setting, and having picked up spinning earlier this year (via some of your videos for tips and tricks!) was making one character someone who spins while on the back of her horse while on go. I was thinking drop spindle at first because that was what I knew and not caring much for the thigh-rolling motions, but watching this type of technique just opened a whole new world for me and seems FAAAAR more fitting for a "traveler." Awesome videos, please keep it up!
I know it's been three years but there is also grasped or in hand spinning. This what I do with a bulgarian spindle. The bulb at the top gives you somewhere to snap the spindle when spinning, the spindle is only suspended for a few seconds at a time. I love this spindle since it's small enough I can keep it in my bag, without knocking a whorl around, with a few balls of cotton. I'll regularly spin while walking around shopping, sitting in a car, everywhere.
Just discovered your videos. I got a kick spindle and was looking around you tube. It's wonderful. Your videos are great the information is wonderful and interesting and I really love the presentation. Thank you for getting all this information in one place. I'm gonna go enjoy more of your videos now.
Moin Moin Lois,at the Moment you are my favorite spinnng Artist, Ilove your Historical Videos and the Spider Glove♥Best Regards from Hamburg Germany Sanne
I have had two of those old shuttles sitting on a beam in my house here in south of France! But I do not want to rip them apart, so trying to make my own dealgan. I might try with some old lace bobbins I also have.
Hi Lois, I am part of the Bothwell International Highland SpinIN & Fibre Festival in Tasmania, Australia. We are seeking an international guest to attend the event in March 2021 and I thought you'd fit the bill. Are you still active in the industry, and would you consider taking this idea further?
Late, but think most festivals are on hold. Lois was scheduled to teach at the 2020 Central New York fiber festival. Their organizers can likely get you in touch. Lois does know her stuff thoroughly, which is a rarity.
hunterkono824 hi I just watched lass from dirtpatcheaven make one from two CDs and rubber grommet and bout half inch piece of dowel 12 inches long and I picked up some oak dowel nice - not tried it yet
Where are you now in 2019??? would like to see more video from you

I've been a weaver for 20 some years, and I've never enjoyed the video more about the history and styles of spinning.
Yet another very interesting video, thanks a lot! You always come up with such wonderful things...

Do you think a wooden Crochet hook would work?
I haven't tried a crochet hook for the top, i 'm sorry. Perhaps you could comment on how it works if you try it.
hunterkono824 hi I just watched lass from dirtpatcheaven make one from two CDs and rubber grommet and bout half inch piece of dowel 12 inches long and I picked up some oak dowel nice - not tried it yet
update channel please
Would this method work for spinning cotton? Or would the fibres be too short?
Where is she 😐🤔 did she passed away 😥
I see Lois was on schedule to teach at the 2020 Central NY fiber festival. She really is one of the few people that really knows her stuff.
Oh wow, I can use my spurtle!
