Faial is my favourite Azorean island. The volcano museum is fascinating and the tiny museum showing a typical house and how they used to live including arts & crafts (who knew you could craft with fish scales) & dragon tree leaf dolls. The beach at Praia do Norte is an amazing place to watch waves crashing in - I could have spent days just watching them.
My ancestors are from Faial, migrated to Florianopolis, Southern Brazil around 1800 , no one from my mothers family (Cardozo) has ever gone back to the island to visit as far as I know.
Horta is a lovely, quiet town. Last year we spent over a week there. The island is beautiful. The view of Pico is captivating..... We hope to live there for retirement 😄
Do you have any cool recommendations on what to do there or what you enjoyed doing there?? I will be back and need some inspiration!:) and the best of luck to you guys with moving there for retirement!!
@@catchnemo Rent a house with a view of Pico! In Horta, it is worth seeing the house of a family that made history on the island (Dabney). Rent a car and drive to every corner of the island 😍
Looks a nice little island! Out of curiosity since i haven't been to this island, did you see many signs of social deprivation and addiction, compared to what you see in Sao Miguel?

Where is this tiny museum showing a typical house located at? :) Thank you for the tips!
