    I love keyways that spell something: Abus, Cisa...EVVA (maybe!) do you know of any more? Let me know :-)

      Lock Noob ABUS has an 888 cylinder with a keyway that spells ABUS. I have one in my 83/45. lockitt.com/abus-888-83series-cylinder.html

    I have one in gold. Long shackle also. I asked for challenging bitting and boy did I get it!
    Abus spelled and highs and lows. Beautiful lock.
    Great picking! Tiny little pins.

    That's a great description, lifting rather than levering.
    I got hung up, for months , on Master that had extreme bitting. I SPP all pins with a regular hook, except for pin 4. Pin 5 had to go up just a hair, pin 4 all the way with a deep hook, pin 3 couldn't be touched !
    You're very informative. Thanks, man !

    Nice 888 abus 72/40. I've seen them on eBay pretty cheap too. Ive got a few with standard yale style keyway. Brady loto locks come standard with the 888 keyway.

    Sounded like that lock was doing a lot of talking to you. Nice loud clicks. Might have been a bit more difficult a pick if those spools had been thinner.
    I know what you mean about sometimes having to keep recording over and over again yet off camera you get a good pick. Happened to me just last night after two 15 minute failed picks. I switched off the camera and picked it in less than 5 minutes. Still trying to get that good pick on camera.
    Think I am going to Google that lock of yours and try to get one 👍🏻

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Picking on camera is just very different and a lot more pressured I find :-)

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it’s a bit annoying with they key. Some Assa keyways are the same problem :-)

  • @andyhalman996
    @andyhalman996 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hi lock Noob I use the same locks at work believe what you have is Loto padlock (lock out tag out) I use the same padlocks when I lock off a switch to a motor or a electrical panel and with the different colours identifying different trades ie red electrical green plumber

    • @DonzLockz
      @DonzLockz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They look similar but these are aluminium as where the LOTO locks are plastic so the can be smashed in an emergency. These 72/40's are easily bypassed too, as quick as a key unfortunately. :/

    • @andyhalman996
      @andyhalman996 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The padlock body is identical to the ones I have in my tool box and the keyway is heavily worded and just about identical and if I’m working on a 400v motor I’m sticking to my aluminium abus 👍

    Why is there often one standard driver with all the remaining drivers as spools? Curious

    • @72polara
      @72polara 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are usually hardened for drill protection.

    • @CConn-df7hy
      @CConn-df7hy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      72polara makes sense thx

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If all the pins are spools, the core of the lock moves and feels sloppy. A single standard pin keeps the core centred when locked and it’s a feature in most Euro cylinders :-)

    • @CConn-df7hy
      @CConn-df7hy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lock Noob does that not make it an easier pick as since one pin would tend to keep the cylinder aligned with the centre and therefore not employ the benefits of spools as much?

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris Conn a good question :-) yes and no is the answer, it depends on too many factors to give a binary answer of yes or no. As long as you have good bitting, high tolerances and I intelligent positioning of the pins, 1 standard out of 6 pins won’t substantially decrease Security imo and could even have other properties that increase it, such as being an anti-bump or tapered pin and being hardened steel and anti-drill :-)

  • @doriWyo

    While it is a nice little lock for picking, it should be mentioned that this lock has an inexcusable design flaw: it has an unshielded keyway and can be opened with a bypass driver.
