  • I am mainly making this video to address why it is important for Lake Mead's ecosystem to keep small striped bass within the legal limit. Hopefully this video educate people of the current situation at lake mead.

    I live on a 500 acre lake in Illinois and our crappie are stunted, have huge yellow bass and gizzard shad populations. We threw 10k pure stripers in there to see if the adults will knock down some of these problem fish. It'll take a few years to see what the adults will eat but I'm hoping to be catching some monster stripers in the near future. Great video again.

      Thank you for sharing it. I'm assuming at this lake The striped bass population can't repopulate so theoretically you should have some really nice sized stripers lol

    Before this starts. If the angler paid for a license and the fish is legal. Its they're right to keep the fish. Ok on with the film

    They took over the lake and ruined the trout and bass fishing everytime you get a stripper or carp throw it on the bank now theres f n talapia in there ndow dont no nothing they should have stripper contests not smallmouth and largemouth. Strippers ruined the lake.

    • @SeaBassOutdoors7

      I completely agree with you. Unfortunately most people still throw striped bass back in the water. I see it done constantly. The only way we will be able to reach somewhat of a normal fishery where striped bass don't dominate the lake is if everyone never throws them back in but even that is speculation lol

    Thanks for the video! I would like to learn more about the Colorado River system and how it relates to the Striper spawn. I know there is current generated by water in/out of the lake but I would assume not enough to make a difference at Lake Mead.

    • @SeaBassOutdoors7
      @SeaBassOutdoors7  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll add that to the list! A video detailing how stripers spawn in the Colorado River system. I read that it has something to do with the inflow and outflow of the damn but there was a lot more to it. It was actually pretty complicated but I didn't look too far into it. @@SeaBassOutdoors7 Yeah. They used to stock a bunch of lakes near me and they hardly stock them at all anymore if even once a year. I could see a world where they start a new program to get people into fishing and revamp the trout fisheries and stockings. I doubt anything like that would happen in the current political climate but it would be amazing.

      @@flaminggorilla909I completely get exactly what you're talking about. That's the reason I do what I do. I would love to get more people interested in fishing because if there was a greater demand we might actually see more hatcheries pop up. It seems like people are just trying to survive nowadays And it's just made fishing harder.

    What a great and informative video, the history of fisheries is so unique and interesting!!! We had a similar scenario in the late 80s early 90s in lake mcconaughy in Nebraska. Huge Stripers ate all the trout lol. Stripers didn't naturally reproduce though and died out. They've brought them back recently though, hopefully they get as big as they did in the 80s.

    • @SeaBassOutdoors7

      It seems like the stripers only really last in lakes or river systems with dams. I don't think most lakes would be able to sustain a striped bass population. Thank you for sharing
