The problem at that end of Jomtien is the total lack of thought and planning. They widened the beach, cut down the trees and now no one goes there. There is no shade, the sea is too far out and the sand too hot. Yes it looks beautiful but its a total white elephant. Some great seafood restaurants down that end but thats the only attraction. Thats why its so empty.

That sand is the same sand that they widened Pattaya beach with.I don't know where the sand came from but it's full of small sea shells
👍When I travel (no matter where), I walk about 10 kms a day on average everyday. You are getting there, keep it up.

Used to love living in Na Jomtien. The only issue I had in that part of town was the very aggressive Soi dogs, extremely territorial in the back Soi's around dusk, so you gotta be handy on your toes!

Really wanted to come to the Buzzin lounge to say hello to you, beer & the ladies but the last 10 days of my holiday was ruined by
a really bad bout of sciatica- I was in agony with it and it really threw a spanner in all my plans but I plan to return at the end of April,

11:25 "Just Burgers" the best burgers on the beach. They have a Priceless sunset view for the price of a burger. You should check it out sometime. Justin is the name of the owner.

The quiet South side of Jomtien is beautiful and peaceful. Thanks for the video I may have to do that walk as well when I arrive. I'm not Thai, but if you want to pay me to take pictures of hotels and restaurants each day I am all ears as I plan on relocating there within the next year 🙂

The sun is definitely different closer to the equator. Years ago I fell asleep on day one visiting Hawaii, burned so bad my nose was bleeding from the outside and spent the rest of my vacation with a huge scab on my beak!

Before covid I would spend my winters in Jomtien and summers back in the US. I lived in ViewTalay 8 each time at about $650 USD that covered all but utilities. I used to eat at least twice a week at Just Burgers, which you passed at about 11:25. I expect to be back there around Songkran. Maybe I will run into you! 😊😊

Agree with you about the beer mate,the craft stuff just doesn't float my boat, all the trendy kool guys are into it

I think sometimes the craft beer scene is a way for small brewers to make a living. If you are a local micro-brewery, and you get going, why not take a bit of money out of the big players pockets? I'm not knocking anyones tastes in beer, craft or generic, just an observation.
I have done that walk . I usually walk hour or two hours everyday before the night sessions. Trev is there a calendar this year where can I pick up .thanks

We both got something when we arrived, it lasted 2 or 3 days, wife still has persistent cough. I'm putting it down to the water for me. Forgot to only drink bottled drinks. See plenty of mask wearers but they are probably the ones that always wore them. The air quality in Bangkok was not good at all last week. Inhaler time for me. More fresh down in Phuket and ayutthaya

What does the 'Na' in Na Jomtien stand for? North?
Grand Jomtien Palace is a really great hotel. Modern everything, good food, great location, good value. Super sweet people at the counter.
I have always regarded it as meaning far, Thai people use Na in many sentences as a way of softening the tone.

I disagree.The sandy beach is great in Jomtiem and Dong Tan beach but that new imported sand on Far Jomtiem and Pattaya is not so good on closer inspection.

I was thinking that jomtien or dark side would be good to stay in for a first time visit to Pattaya. What do you think...I was looking at the green mango resort on dark side. Keep up the great videos.
Jomtien is best for first time as East Pattaya is further away and you need to know your way around

The resort looks a good price, but I have never been to the darkside in 30 plus visits and don't venture beyond the Jomtien Night Market and Soi 9. Pattaya is way too busy for me, plenty of bars, restaurants and entertainment down in Jomtien.

For a first time in Pattaya you might as well immerse yourself fully into what the city centre offers. Leave the quieter areas for a future trip.
10 baht is ridiculous if you are Western and are on holiday.
If you are Thai and earn 300 baht a day then 10 baht twice a day is almost a tenth of your wages.

I must say I hate it when people get snobby about craft beers. I mean if "beer is beer" then you are saying Guinness is the same as Chang... Beer is like wine and can be as varied as wine is you need to keep an open mind and be willing to try different beers and decide what you like.

Nana (my girlfriend) and I moved to Lumpini Seaview in Jomtien on December 1st, not far from NaJomtiem Beach. In fact, Nana and I take a walk every morning right past NaJomtien Beach for exercise. The condo is a bit smaller than the place I was renting before. Many people from the Russia seem to be living in the area.

Interesting video Trev. I have been to Thailand many times and have travelled all over but never to that part of Jomtien. It's actually quite pretty and nice that it is unspoilt, progress isn't always a good thing. I have never tried flavoured beers and don't really like the idea of it but, having said that, some of the flavoured ciders are lovely. Is cider widely available in Pattaya? I can't remember seeing it on previous trips.

Trev I heard an interesting thing on another old timers channel, where he said Thai food is basically peasant food e,g. rice or noodles with a few vegetables and a touch of protein. Actually it is when you think about it, but the Thai's over many centuries have added sauces and awesome flavours to that peasant food making it another great cuisine 🙂

It's only about 4 miles from the start to the tower..Natural park has seen better days. I run that road 5 -6 days week. Can't wait for you to see the morning party crew on the beach..

It’s still very cheap I am only a 5min walk form the town centre if I was to get a taxi it would be over 5quidi would love to retire in jomtiem the cheap beer sunshine pand lively enough for a 66year😊😊
Many people retire in this area for exactly the reasons that you stated
I like Jomtien, I'm a bit older now so the madness of the city is not for me when it comes to a 3 week jolly,but I still like a couple of nights out down there,each to their own though 😊

I looked at a photo of myself only the other day and compared it to now and the change is dramatic
I remember when there was virtually nothing down there , just a long stretch of road alongside the beach, coming to a deadend about a mile down the road.
The city is changing so rapidly it's unbelievable

@@valhallaholsopple Khao is rice. Tom is soup. Moo is pig. Rice is simply khao or Khao suai. Khao niaw is sticky rice. Khao San like the road is rice before cooked as they used to sell rice there. I have heard of jok so maybe both are correct.
