Although I never figured out how the hell to play this thing, when I was a kid it was just the greatest thing ever. That backstory in the manual, the sound effects, the aliens, the surreal scope of it. I had never seen anything like it. It was just incredible.
@Shiqna1 Thanks for the info! I've yet to try the Amiga version out, but I now have some idea of what to expect and have a further drive to check it out soon :D

people who critic your sims videos obviously don't watch your other videos lol i personally like the sarcasm in your videos, it makes it interesting :3
Interesting, it seems that the "Brain Baller" mini-game is at the origins of the (not less weird and creepy) game "Extase", released one year later by another french company (Cryo) owned by Philippe Ulrich who also worked on the Exxos games.
Oh my gosh, the opening reminded me that Winter games was the first game my family bought when we got a gateway 2000 386. Followed shortly with a big step up: Doom!
Wow, this looks pretty neat! Ring Pursuit looks really fun, actually. Brain Bowler is curiously complex compared to the other games, but who am I to judge how people amuse themselves on Saturn. And I would love ham tots. Deep fried cylinders of ham? Awesome. I would totally go all the way to Saturn to get some.
@spiderjerusalem100 Agreed. I played so much garbage back then, but it's what I had so it was AWESOME. Cali Games is pretty lackluster for the most part. Well, other than the Footbag/Hacky Sack game, at least that's kinda fun.
phreakindee. i am not worthy of your presence, but here i am. your reviews are full of awesomeness, and i think there should be a friggen' reality show about u, but not on MTV cause they suck. anyway, u rule and your reviews are asstastic. keep on truckin'.
Whaaa? I have never met anyone who has ever played/heard of this game...*mind blown* I remember picking this up at Target in a bargain bin for maybe $2.00 or $3.00.
The Amiga version has much better sound effects. Imagine that would also apply to the ST version as well. That does have an effect on the atmosphere of the game as beeps can get annoying.
The music from the title screen of this game was awesome (at least on the amstrat 5.25" floppy version). I never got very far on this game though, all the events were kind of weird and I never understood them as a kid. Funnily enough, the manual didn't fit properly in the 5.25" box either! I don't know how. It's on Steam though. I bought it for nostalgia. I still don't understand it.
it's very possible to get highly skilled at the brain circuit game to the point it doesn't feel at all awkward at least on the Amiga and ST versions I've played. I imagine the PC version isn't different though. My personal fave mini game out of all of these and a lot of fun once you get confident with it. As a package it's not incredible but it's got charm and it's refreshing
well in my case, i was lucky.. i played only great titles on my family first pc with 286 cpu: gran prix circuit, rick dangerous 2, arkanoid, silpheed, skyroads 3d, prehistorik 2, the games: winter challenge, zool.. same thing with first perntium pc: doom, doom 2, duke nukem 3d, Vinyl Goddess from Mars, mdk, wipeout 2097 ecc ecc ecc i think i have a beautiful childhood!
@Shiqna1 Both great C64 games. It's a shame all the NES ports didn't do so well. Also @phreakindee You should review some Commodore 64 games more often!

For a "Lazy" game reviewer, you are a heckofaton more imformative than other youtubers ive seen.
*Informative.
And yes, he is. An irony to be enjoyed.
@@ryarod Not to mention he uploads more often.
Maybe his “lazy” is a state of mind, not of body... or vice versa
@Shiqna1 Thanks for the info! I've yet to try the Amiga version out, but I now have some idea of what to expect and have a further drive to check it out soon :D
@V3ryan Of course! Concerning the existence of my partial bias, I am most certain.
0:49 That 3d stadium was unexpected and actually impressive!
Wow, yeah that is pretty nice
@RNRgammer I wasn't expecting anything at all. So if anything, it far exceeded my expectations :)
I've been trying to remember the name of this game for years and years, and I just accidentally stumbled upon this video today! Aahaha, thanks!
Sweet, that's exactly what I had in mind when I made this video! Er, maybe not, but awesome nonetheless
Please review Captain blood and Kult.

That, or awakened the Deadites.
Joseph Torres kalaatu verada... necktie.

This review made my Purple Saturday! Thanks, LGR!
Good thing you didn’t read that chant. It’s gonna summon a demon or something
Concernef. The rabbits laugh to squid-people
You're uh... you're real good at that hurdle jump there
@Zestypanda Yeah, it was purchased that way. I join with a companion tear.

I like how the planet is doing a facepalm on the cover
Free Leech - Jupiter: “Holy shit, what are you all doing on my surface and atmosphere? Are you all high or something? Mother of mercy...”
@@Davtwan jupiter doesn't have a surface, it's a fart planet

@rpmmelby Yup. One of the reasons I'm not too fond of Tronic Slider. AUDIBLE PAIN. Imagine it on a true PC speaker with no volume control...

@Highretrogamelord89 Lavender/Magenta Saturn Day just doesn't have the same ring to it :)
"i think i need a cigarette after that."
me too, Clint. me too.
Even with him explaining everything and me seeing it, that 3rd game I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about lol
Stephane picq is a great compose btw, glad to see his name on here :P
Love your reviews, keep em coming, I'll keep clicking.
Aww man... The memories... of that awesome intro! I miss it so.
God, I miss Epyx. I broken many of joystick on my C64 playing a lot of their games, LOL
At first, I thought the title was "Purple Satan Day".
I still read it that way
I love the colors!
lol. Nice .. > your work & voice is funny & hilarious XD - Great reviews !!

Therefore you're the only person in the world who ever played it. QED.
I think a remake of this game would be interesting, some work with the controls and non eyeball melting colors.

Very cool video.
7:22 Kinda reminds me of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy's Improbability drive.

the mind game kinda of reminds me of paradroids from the C64 when you try to take over another bot.
@phreakindee You should really try Extase on the amiga version. It's really a blast!
i just got it on GOG as I had it on my ATARI ST. The PC version doesnt hold up to the HomePC version which is weird. nostalgia anyways
Any chance of checking out the old DOS game Ultrabots? Remember it from my childhood but none of my friends have even heard of it nowadays.
you can pre-order duke nuk'em forever on steam now
Love yall
yay , a winner will be me !
Have you done one for Captain Blood? I remember that game being amazing graphics wise on the MSX but never could get far.
"Happy Purple Saturn Day, son!"
Looks more pink than purple imho. Kinda like some Apple II games, lol.
@Haltedboy Check my "FAQ" video for information on my capturing, recording and editing solutions: watch?v=hHFRwCCSSIs
Nice!
You must review commander blood. I played that game countless times.
I thought Purple Saturn Day was a holiday for owners of Purple Sega Saturns
Wow. I have this game in my collection. Still shrinkwrapped. Looked too weird to open. I think I paid $2 for it back in the day...
@phreakindee you engrish is urtimate strong- YOU ARE HERE, ROR!
Awesome thanks 👍
Nope, never have.
The Amiga version looked and sounded much better! I can't believe how bad this version looks. Anyway. . nice review.
I think you meant Battle Sport? For the 3DO.
Purple Saturday.
Exxos would later become Cryo (Dune, Megarace, Lost Eden, KGB).
Purple Saturn? What is this, Sailor Moon?
well in my case, i was lucky.. i played only great titles on my family first pc with 286 cpu: gran prix circuit, rick dangerous 2, arkanoid, silpheed, skyroads 3d, prehistorik 2, the games: winter challenge, zool.. same thing with first perntium pc: doom, doom 2, duke nukem 3d, Vinyl Goddess from Mars, mdk, wipeout 2097 ecc ecc ecc

Ah Exxos, you need to review Lost Eden and Dune now.
100% partially biased...lol. Which part? The first 100% or the second 100%?
Lol nice video. laughed at the "Hulu blip etc" joke. Hahah.
Do you have all the other computers this was ported to?
@Shiqna1 Both great C64 games. It's a shame all the NES ports didn't do so well. Also @phreakindee You should review some Commodore 64 games more often!
They should make a movie based off this game
nice intro! :D
"strangely drawn to strangeness" yeah thats me XD
Lol@100% partially biased :o) Wow, quite smooth graphics in that first stage :o)
That's one hell off a convoluted game! :o)
Is this the motherfuckin' Space Olympics that the Lonely Island were talking about?
All the oxygen has run out.
Weird alien sports.. Idea? Oooookay~ Execution? Ooooo...kaaaay?
lol the intro haha nice one
Finagle … good word!
So much Purple.....as the title suggests!
Ah, yes, Purple Saturn Day. The prequel to Red Dead Revolver.
Used to play California games to death on the C64 back then. epyx ftw
Somehow, this review has made me both want to acquire AND avoid this game, LOL.
Hey, I still like California Games. Biking was pretty cool, IMO
you should do the ultima colletion or Xcom series, or quest for glory!!!!! please :)
I liked the old intro
Me too
Ah, so this is the origin of the Saturn Death Cult conspiracy.
Epyx was amazing on C64, but it seemed after that they just couldn't hang on...such a shame. Gateway to Apshai!!
Fan manual? A Fanual?
Screw real life, enter Purple Saturn Day :)
Wow. What a strange game.
"awesome graphics"
Oh that 2011 Audio. Good video though.
Is that Duke Nukem I spy in the thumbnail? 😋
At 7:24 i think i saw a whale and a bowl of petunias... Hmmm. The last shape could be The Hitchhiker's Guide but a book version of it. :)
"Awesome graphics".........wasn't even sarcastically meant...
The third game is actually an Extase-clone, another game frome the same guys:
/watch?v=zAlBeNCBf7o
i can whait to see pyuro tehnica
100% partially biased?
I'm someone drawn to strangest
Yeah, suuuuuure.
If so, live a little.
On the Amiga is look so much Better! :) A Really funny Game
idk what to think of it, over all I think I'll pass does not look like it would be able to keep me amused long enough.
do you smoke ?
And thats why epics are purple
I had California games on the Sega Master system when i was about 7. It sucked ass but for some reason i played it a lot.
Kids know jack shit lol.
