You are right, Pirlo was still a couple of years away from his peak and whilst his passing wasn't as refined yet, you could still see all the hallmarks of a premium midfield metronome. Brilliant vision, deft dribbling and great movement off the ball - always being in the right place at the right time to keep things ticking.
