What about dimes and a smaller opening, having one side of the “barrel “ smooth and one rough to create rifling so the coins travel more smoothly? I noticed the nickels flailing a bit at times

if you put it on its focus point then it will reflect but reflection wont be a laser like but more of a flashlight
