Bro… didn’t realize how many classics he’s produced. Keep doing your thing, king. Keep producing content you’re passionate about, not just what the algorithm dictates!
All this was Pre Drake Stimulus Package, that time every one was making hits without drake... at some point hip hop got weird when every hit has drake in it
Perfect 10 is his “iconic” album. Platinum album with four charting records. 1. Ballin’ (7x Platinum) 2. Pure Water (5x Platinum)& 3. 100 Bands (Gold) 4. Baguettes in My Face (Platinum)
the thing is ppl used the instrumentals of these songs in memes (think vine and musicaly/early tiktok era) so even if ppl didn't know the actual song, they knew the beat
Mustard was his own era. Also, best set by far at Made In America and that includes Big Sean, Bryson Tiller, Chance the Rapper with the Social Experiment band.
This is amazing. I had no idea Mustard was so prolific. 2024 was the year I got back to listening to rap regularly, so I have so much catching up to do. Best year to do it.
What a great dive into Mustard... appreciate you! I love many of the tracks on his new album and did not realize the depth of his discography until this vid. New sub here, great work! Btw - discovered your channel via Justin Hunt's shout out toward the end of his latest Culture United ep. Looking forward to exploring your content. ☮
Being from The Bay and hearing Who do You Love, that song cemented my hate towards Drake. I'm not even mad at mustard for doing the beat to this, but why did nobody check Drake about straight up stealing bars from another Bay Area artist, and then LIE about paying them while he was going through a fight with Myeloma?! Look up Rappin' 4-Tay and decide if that was homage, or biting.
He got sued for that. Or atleast eventually paid up. Probably thought umg had the rights to it. That’s probably how he avoid getting sued for alot of his biting because they own 80% of the music industry
I'm from the Bay also and I remember when I heard Drake's verse. I was like that's a 4-Tay. song. Keep 4-Tay lifted in prayer. Yes‼️ Drake's label paid Rappin' 4-Tay $100,000 and promised him future credits for the song.
Damn I didn’t know he had that many tracks. He’s up there with swizz and timberland as a super producer. The Neptunes are on a different planet because P still super active
Warryn Campbell, Battlecat, Raphael Saadiq. Not as much hip hop, but hits! And I know you already mentioned Quik and Daz and Warren G, but Dre got credited for some of their stuff.
Man i forgot about kid ink. Took me back to when i found out he was related to julian from the rangers lmao. Mustard really made some of if not the best songs from the past 10-15 years.
As a Dre fan, I'm super pissed u would compare him anywhere near kanye, cos kanye basically ripped off daft punk sounds and made em sound hip hop, but electronic beats was Daft Punk's thing. Dre never took anyone's style, he's got his own formula, kanye got his from Daft Punk.
@@TakverReturns no-one is talking abt daft punk tho. I don't care if they ripped off anyone in their field, who care's LoL...... I'm talking abt Kanye taking daft punk's style and bringing it to hip hop. U can't call someone creative when they don't create, but instead borrow.
YG wasn't popping before Kendrick you just be talking sometimes dont upload those parts lol dont just click send or im a click unsub cause its getting unfactual round here
Found you through the Kendrick beef but been a subscriber since. I can feel the same authentic knowledge & love of the culture that most ppl try to imitate. But real ones know & thats why im here. 🫡💯
Metro Boomin has had the craziest run of any producer ever. Most great producers have a 2-3 year run of being the number one guy, Metro has done it for over a decade now with no end in sight.
great content bro.. and i like how you started off the clip with the quick history lesson. very fitting bc i think that tag is done lol, dot very well may have given him his new one. 🫡
New sub here. Love this content
Appreciate it, welcome to the club!
Bro… didn’t realize how many classics he’s produced. Keep doing your thing, king. Keep producing content you’re passionate about, not just what the algorithm dictates!
gotta do a lil bit of both!
He can use that, along with .............. "Mustaaaaaaaaaaarrrrdd!!" 😂
his tag is already so good he doesnt even need to use kendrick's😂 someone should sample it tho
Mustard is a LEGEND! Back in the 2010s you couldn't go anywhere without hearing a Mustard beat.
he owned 2011-2015!
@Top5Troy big facts!!!
All this was Pre Drake Stimulus Package, that time every one was making hits without drake... at some point hip hop got weird when every hit has drake in it
Exactly. Now pay attention to how Drake been saying “hip hop is weird now” now that he’s been beefing with everyone
Mustard was the club at one point he definitely underrated with the hits
Thanks for this video! DJ Mustard has been one of the coldest producers for a long time! Folks just don't know.
I had no idea these were his hits. These were some of my faves. Great video!
glad you enjoyed it!
Now I didn't know Needed Me by Rihanna was Mustard!
Yes I knew that was a diss song for Drake. He needed her😅😅😅
Tbh I didn’t know either until i did the research
It's in the beginning, just slowed down ✨
Didn’t even notice how impactful Mustard has been on my life.
he's the soundtrack to my late teens for sure
More of this…this was a good one!

1. Ballin’ (7x Platinum)
2. Pure Water (5x Platinum)&
3. 100 Bands (Gold)
4. Baguettes in My Face (Platinum)
good point. Ballin was huge
the thing is ppl used the instrumentals of these songs in memes (think vine and musicaly/early tiktok era) so even if ppl didn't know the actual song, they knew the beat
I actually love this video!
Mustard was his own era.

I think the first DJ mustard beat I ever heard was "I'm different. Yeah, I'm different."
Now *this* is good content 👌🏾 Interesting and informative. I learned something today, and have a greater respect for Mustard's career and impact.
What a great dive into Mustard... appreciate you! I love many of the tracks on his new album and did not realize the depth of his discography until this vid.

Love this video, these babies don’t know!! ❤

4 Tay actually spoke out about it
More than biting. Straight up stolen. He took the whole verse word for word.
@@Top5Troy I remember 4-Tay speaking out about it in 2014, but as of 2018 the invoice that they sent Drake hasn't been paid.
I'm from the Bay also and I remember when I heard Drake's verse. I was like that's a 4-Tay. song. Keep 4-Tay lifted in prayer. Yes‼️ Drake's label paid Rappin' 4-Tay $100,000 and promised him future credits for the song.

i think Mustard might have even surpassed Swizz and Timbo at this point. he's only 34 with this catalog?? Wow
Timbo on the RnB side probably has him. But combined Mustard deserves the respect imo
Yo i forgot about Headband! This was dope to go over some music history with you
thank you for watching!
Great informative video👏🏾
I didn’t realize he had a hand in so much hits
What about Daz Dillinger? His production is part of the Death Row success
Daz deserves a lot of credit
Great video!
Put some respect on his name❤ he's BEEN making us dance
The Atlanta trap and NY drill sound kind of pushed that Westcoast sound to the side.
We coming back
The West is BACK!
J. Cole clears as a producer. More platinum in 13 years.
David Blake👍🏾 doesn't get enough credit
right! DJ Quik has some amazing records
Dom Kennedy When I come around is for sure my all time favorite
that whole Westside 2 album is nostalgic
@@Top5Troy Hell yeah, I feel like Dom doesn't get his flowers. He definitely has more than a few classics in my opinion

he’s got range
Man i forgot about kid ink. Took me back to when i found out he was related to julian from the rangers lmao.
Mustard really made some of if not the best songs from the past 10-15 years.
I didn't know he did Post To Be that would be my favorite
And shoutout to jhene Aiko LA stand up!
I agree with you, Dj Quick is very talented!!
It hadda come from YG right? My favorites is Needed Me, TV off, Paranoid, Do this all day and Ballin
Thank you for giving Mustard his props
Mustard my age😭 feeling unproductive AF now
😂ikr
Wooow, never knew his pedigree. Thanks for this! 🙌🏾
Bro you mentioned B.o.b what did happen? I stand on the idea that B.o.b could have been the Andre 3000 for the 2010 generation of rap
Bob was SO talented. He kinda just disappeared quietly idk
I have a sneaking suspicion Dre made Not Like Us.
Its not just a west coast classic bro lol
We was fucking with YG heavy over here
Quik made the Deborah Cox nobody's supposed to be here so David will always be appreciated
Pushaz Ink!🗣️
They don’t know about this!
Ballin by Roddy Rich.
I just found out thats Mustard.
Goo MUSTARDDDD
Freaky Friday w lil dicky and Chris brown!!! Mustard !!!
you are such a handsome young man
Bro said the same thing 5 different ways at the start of the vid. inner-city school systems smh
Boi1da has more
I owe you an apology. I wasn't really familiar with your game.

Most of dres songs contain samples bro
@dolphinitely_bro3944 One thing is a sample, it's another ball game when u use someone else's syle of beat.
@DoggyZworlD07 You're acting as if Daft Punk didn't steal the whole of "Release the Beast" to make the incredibly dull "Robot Rock". 🙄

I think you’re talking about the song “Stronger”? It’s a great song
Ketchup is better
