The Scholar and Five Mile Chase on a C set of Uilleann Pipes

So thrilled to get to play for the first time on a flat set in C that was made by the wonderful @geoffwooff and delivered by Fionntan Byrne an hour ago(thank you)! Geoff had Rob McConnell make the bellows and bag and Jordan who did the paddles picked a gorgeous walnut with an applied French polish.
I’ll play two tunes called the Scholar and the Five Mile Chase dedicated to the pipe maker Geoff Wooff and Mrs. Wooff.❤️🎶🙏🙏🙏🙏

What an absolutely heavenly sounding set of pipes. For only just receiving them, you made them sing beautifully. I can only imagine taking receipt of a new set of Wooff pipes has to be a pinnacle experience. Congrats on the amazing instrument!

Plus O'Rourke's = the Dubliners combination. Surpass Paddy - do it wilder than him! If you can... Today these tunes seem to be fenced off territory, nobody touches them.

I see a lot of men bending over their pipes, squeezing them like grapefruits: Mick O'Brien, Cillian Vallely, Jerry O'Sullivan. They are so concentrated, closing themselves off, FIGHTING the music out of their instruments, pressing the bellows as if they are feeding a furnace. There is another way, more playful, more passionate (Paddy Keenan playing Colonel Fraser). My hope for you is that the new instrument gets some contagion from the Irish Traveller tradition and that you develop an individual STYLE, don't settle for reproducing fixed patterns. But can a girl from a Catholic and conservative (? - i judge it from your exterior) tradition take such a step?
