    "Sometimes Walt talks too much." You said a mouthful there, Lacey.

  • @rustincohle2135
    @rustincohle2135 5 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    Jesse wasn't talking because he was still in shock after having murdered a man who was begging for his life.
    Victor wasn't killed because he was seen at the crime scene. Gus doesn't murder his employees just because they get into trouble with the law; you'll see why later in Season 5. Gus needed to make a dramatic example to Walt and Jesse and out of the 4 men, Victor was the most expendable.
    Without Walt, Gus has no product.
    Without Jesse, Walt won't cook for Gus.
    Without Mike, Gus has no right-hand man.
    Victor is just the muscle; he's easily replaceable. Also, Victor took liberties that wasn't his. Gus didn't invest all that money in the lab to have his muscle cook his product. Victor stepped out of line. Also, it punishes Victor and Mike for failing to do their job (protecting Gale). Victor getting seen was the least of Gus's concerns.

    • @MLennholm
      @MLennholm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the fact that he was seen at the scene has at least a little bit to do with why Gus chose to kill him, even if sending a message to Walt was definitely the main reason. It was a 'two birds in one stone' kind of thing.
      On the flip-side, I don't think the fact that Victor started cooking by himself had anything to do with it. Gus is way too pragmatic to see that as some kind of disrespect deserving of summary execution and I'm pretty sure he had already decided what to do before he arrived at the lab and discovered it.

    • @rustincohle2135
      @rustincohle2135 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@MLennholm The reason I believe Gus didn't kill Victor for being seen at the crime scene is because of the hazard pay. Remember hazard pay from season 5? Gus's employees were very well compensated in the event that one or more of his employees got into trouble with the law. They were paid to stand up to the heat. If Gus simply kills his men just because they face jail time, then what is even the point of having hazard pay?

    For why Gus let them leave, he knew that Walt and Jesse could have ran or gone to the cops before but killed Gale so as to stick with Gus. So from Gus's perspective they aren't going to do anything if he just gives them this win until he can figure out what his long term strategy is.

    +1 like - Enjoyed your reaction and analysis. You will notice when Walter feels intimidated and not in control - his feelings can get in the way - and he tends to chatter a bit more. (think back to early episodes when he gave those flimsy lies to Skylar). Walt was confident around Mike, but Gus definitely unnerved him.
    In the stare down - I believe Gus was a little impressed that Jesse showed no signs of being intimidated by him. If we could read Jesse's thoughts at that time I'm thinking we would have heard "Bring it, Bitch!" 🤣
    At the end - Since Walt and Jesse had blood on their clothes, I'm certain they were not allowed to leave the lab in them. Bloody clothes were disposed. Someone had to buy them quick "off the shelf" clothes.

    Gus knows Walt would never go to the police. If he takes Walt and Jesse prisoner, Walt's family is gonna start looking for him. He could get rid of all of them but that'd draw too much attention, plus killing a DEA agent is not something he'd wanna get involved with. Even if he manages to kill everyone without getting noticed, Walt would try to do something if he knoew he killed his family..
    The best course of action is to have someone follow Walt and kill him if he ever wants to speak/escape.

    Gus is a pro... literally. By not speaking, he's increasing their fear exponentially so they have nothing to read. Afterall, he was a high-ranking general in Chile, so this isn't his first rodeo. Also, he drops the body at Walt's feet after staring them both down (sizing them up), and Jesse gives a challenging gaze, whilst Walt is both cowardly in his reaction and the one who ordered Gale's murder. The choice to drop his body in front of Walt unambiguously demonstrates that he holds him responsible for Gale's spilt blood, and punishes him further by letting Victor's literally pool around him.

      Everyone involved have made bad decisions. Walt, Jesse, Skylar.... and sure some of Walt's decisions have had a snowball effect, like the airplane disaster... but WALT personally didn't CAUSE that. That would be Jane's father. His inability to react when he needed to the most because his mind was on Jane. That doesn't mean he is a horrible person... he didn't mean for that to happen... he just froze. But yes, the blame is definitely on him more so than anyone else. Jeremy you are absolutely right that they are all adults and all make their own decisions. Someone else in the comments suggested that you should react to the show “The Americans”. I agree with them. The Americans is literally the perfect show for you to react to since *#1* you're Americans, *#2* you've been married for 10 years and have multiple kids and *#3* Steve’s dad used to be an undercover cop and he talked about how he grew his hair and beard to become completely unrecognizable (almost like a disguise, which are used a lot in this show) My point is that I think there's a lot you can relate to when watching The Americans.
    It’s also an *INCREDIBLY* exciting TV-show, unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Amazing from beginning to the end. I actually put it up there with Breaking Bad in terms of quality. It’s also a bit similar to Breaking Bad in another regard, because it has the same “rooting for the bad guys” vibe to it. That’s because it is set in the 1980s and it follows two Soviet KGB spies posing as an American married couple living in the suburbs of Washington DC with their two children.
    The concept might not sound that interesting, but trust me; it is great. Over the course of it's six seasons, it has been considered the best of its era by critics, winning the _”TCA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Drama”_ three times and the _”Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Drama Series”_ twice. They've also received Emmys for _”Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series”_ and _”Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series”,_ as well as the _”Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama”._
    I know it sounds like I’m trying to sell the show to you, but that’s because me (and other The Americans fans) are hungry for reactions to this show. Sesskasays is the only person that have reacted to it (and despite starting at the final season, she still got thousands of views)

      Really glad you’re willing to consider it. Trust me - you won’t regret it. There’s pretty much no dull moments in that show. Every scene is there for a reason. Sesskasays (the only person on TH-cam that have reacted to this show) said this at the end of her last reaction, which currently has 22 thousand views:
      _“I believe that this show is going to go down in history as one of the greatest shows ever written. I really believe that. Not a ton of people are watching it now, but I bet over the years people are going to get trough it and love it”_
      I agree with her. And if you decide to react to it, you can bet your ass that I would join Pateron for the full reactions :)

    Gus doesn't say anything unless he needs to. Unless there's a point to it. Other than that, he doesn't need to speak. Makes his words more impactful and to the point than when it's coming from a man that rambles on and on like Walt.

    How many times was she gonna say I think Gus killed Jim because he was seen. No shit Sherlock. And I don’t have a time stamp but at one point she goes “sometimes Walt talks too much”. Her husband should tell her that same thing. Holy Santa Claus shit. I wouldn’t last two minutes around that.

    The reason Gus "let them go" is because he recognizes for now Walt has the upper hand. He HAS to have the product flow and Walt knows this. Not only that, but Walt would NEVER cook under those conditions and neither would Jesse. Gus faces a lot of bad choices and chooses the one that allows the cook to continue thinking he can control this and come to a better resolution in time.

    To me, Walt's talking too much is his "process." He IS a very smart man. Made some bad choices but still smart.
    The acid used isn't actually strong enough to do that (dissolve a human body). It was debunked on a Mythbusters: Breaking Bad special episode. There are acids that could do that but they weren't identified... wouldn't want to give ideas to the wrong people.

    I feel like Mike just picked whatever was on the clearance rack at Walmart or some other cheap store. It's also an homage to Pulp Fiction. In case you haven't seen it, I won't say anything specific. That would actually be a good reaction video. That movie... maybe Scarface too. Both influenced the show.

  • @stevelonmo9495

    I've just come across your reactions to this show. I'm enjoying them. One question though and apologies if you've answered somebody already, but why do you show the clips with the video reversed? I don't see anyone else doing it in their reactions, so it's obviously not necessary to avoid a copyright strike.
    1) I don't think Gus was staring Jesse out. He was staring at everyone to say "This is what I'm capable of if you push me.".
    2) What was the point of buying new clothes when they'd have to buy them while still wearing their original blood spattered outfits?

    • @DuoReacts
      @DuoReacts  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Steve Lonmo ~ I started mirroring the footage when editing our Game of Thrones videos. I was getting copyright claims left and right for no apparent reason. I was trying different things during the editing process and I found that if I mirror the image, I got almost no claims... unless it was the composer. Then I had to do other things to prevent those claims. I have just kept it up since then, just to be safe I guess so I don't have to re-edit anything. You can get copyright claims without getting striked... if you just get a claim, then you can keep the video up, but they get all revenue from that video. ~ Lacey

    Gus never should have let Walt or Jesse know the location of the Lab. They should have been driven there in the back of a van and with a special garage enterance to the Lab.

  • @XxOnyxStudiosxX
    @XxOnyxStudiosxX 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some people think that Gus not killing either Walt or Jesse didn't make sense at that point, but I completely disagree. After all, Gus is someone who always thinks of the long-term investment. If he had killed Walt he would be left with just Jesse. And even if he kills Jesse and forces Walt to cook for him, Walt is someone with not a lot of time left with his cancer and all. So if he left himself with only Walt and he dies of cancer in a year or two, Gus is again left with nothing. Not to mention that Walt is extremely unreliable and difficult to control.

    Gus couldn't keep Walt there without it becoming a huge public deal. Walt's family would call the police. Skylar knows a little bit about things. Then there's Saul, what kinda problems could he cause. Walt wouldn't go to the police, without going to jail for the rest of his life. The only thing to do is for the moment, accept the situation. But now Walt and Gus both want to kill each other. Lacey just said it. Walt won this battle. If Gus can find a quality chemist who will break bad, he will win the war. Nothing is stopping Walt from killing Gus but Mike and Gus himself. So it's a temporary stalemate. Who's the better chess player?
    ✌️😎 Peace
