Love Aspen, wore it from the mid 90's through the mid 2000's. It was probably the most complimented fragrance I ever wore, and I had quite the collection. I also found that Aspen definitely smells different on different people. Very well done, professional review.
Adore Aspen. Clean and fresh, a bar of Irish Spring soap that lasts all day...even reformulated. Prefer it to Cool Water, albeit Cool Water is great, also. Great review!
Omg, as a teenager, I used to wear this one so much, along with Coty Gravity and Vanilla Fields. All cheap but they got me into wearing fragrances on a daily basis.
Nice review! I used to wear Aspen by Coty in high school (early 2000’s), and then deviated away in favor of some of the more modern scents. Recently, I got a strange longing for this scent and it was rather challenging to find! I was able to find it at Walmart but learned shortly thereafter that it was discontinued! I really enjoy the nice clean crisp green scent. Very nice to apply after shower, on the way to a business meeting, church, or just out and about in the town!
Hi sir, I know your comment is 2 years old but I hope you're doing well! May I ask if you have ever gotten compliments about this scent during your high school? I'm planning to wear this scent for my school as well.
I have a bottle from 1991 and a bottle from 2008. Both smell just about the same. Only a trained nose could tell the old from the new. The new has more synthetics than the old one.
Alot of the drugstore cheapies are better than you think. I wish Coty still released Raw Vanilla and Pierre Cardin Musk was still available. www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Coty/Raw-Vanilla-6102.html
I had this, I reviewed it then I gifted the bottle to my 14 year old nephew, he enjoys it a lot he told me, I however was not that crazy about it, it’s better for someone his age I think. Awesome review!
@@bossr07 Just looked, turns out they make Boss, Gucci and a load of well respected brands. www.coty.com/luxury-brands. Always wondered if the 007 fragrances were worth trying. They looked cheap and low quality. Adidas and Nautica seem to have a couple of good ones though (minus the performance)
Man, what a coincidence, this week I have been gathering information about Aspen and how to get it, and suddenly you put on a review video. Thank you very much, Greetings!
I haven't seen anyone do a review of Gravity by Coty. For what it is, it's an amazing fragrance for the price. I wore that throughout my late teens and twenties and it always pulled compliments for me.
Interestingly, in all my years (59) I had never tried this or even knew of its similarity to both other colognes, once again, thanks for the knowledge! Peace.
After watching your review on Green Irish Tweed/Arrmaf Tres Nuit ordered Tres Nuit and received it today, as soon as I sprayed it I knew it smelled very familiar, took another minute till Aspen came to mind was surprised.
@@joebaumgart1146 didn't he also work for Creed at the time GIT was created? I heard Creed shunned him not giving him credit for GIT and that's why he created CW in designer form to stick it to Creed
I got this as a Christmas gift when I was a kid I've had many other colognes over the years but this is one of the best I've ever used and it's super cheap. It has a very fresh clean woodsy scent it's somewhat gentle not at all over powering. It's a very masculine scent and not too sweet like many fragrances on the market today.
Awesome review Steven...I do own this fragrance and imo I think this smells closer to GIT than cool water does...the only thing is ..the performance...just like you said for me..about 4-5 hrs tops with about 45 to 1 hr projection
I do like Aspen regardless of its synthetic smell. It is similar to CW but I find the difference is that Aspen has greeness and CW a blueness if that makes sense. Overall I prefer Armaf Tres Nuit which I feel has more complexity. I still haven't tried GIT but will probably get a decent soon.
I use it daily at work and gym or just at the beach or going out for a walk .I just bought both of them and cool water is a bit more bitter or spicier than aspen but aspen is only for 9 bucks can`t beat that. They both are for rough use where you don`t wanna wear your expensive stuff and still smell reasonable.
Aspen has been my scent since 1993. And the lady’s love it. Everyone always says you smell so good! I see commercials about scents having pheromones to attract women. But this one must have. I can’t find the after shave version in the stores I usually order it. But the cologne is common in Walmart.
Aspen is good to use with a another fresh scent layered over it also and it is better than Coolwater ,or the Coolwater that I had that was a reformulated version I tried about 4 years ago that smelled like a laundry detergent ....
Ysl Y Le Parfum is an amazing improvement of this. Mont Blanc Legend Spirit is a cheaper version that smells unbelievable. Love Aspen and glad to see top designer fragrances copying Aspen
I have this cologne. I honestly can’t remember how this cologne was added to my collection. I think I might have found it in an old box. I was born in 1991
My step-father bought this cologne for me, it was my first cologne that I cherished for real. I didn't know this is what Green Irish Tweed smells like, but I thought that it would from the name of it when I first heard about it lol.
I just got my bottle of Aspen in, and I sprayed both Aspen and Cool water on some clean clothes, and compared. The top notes and first few minutes are discernible, but as time goes, I keep forgetting which is which. There’s a slightly woody and greener scent to Aspen I think, juniper and trees, , with a more “fresh” seawater and floral note for Cool Water. Both smell great.
BTW.. Great Video! Enjoyed it. I still wear this scent.. Mainly because it was my first Cologne Back in high school.🙂 So me and this Cologne have some incredible history and sweet memories that comes along with it! Believe it or not it still draws compliments! I don’t have any set season i choose to wear it when i feel like it as it tends to linger in warm environments so even if it’s winter season being inside where there’s heat it will still perform well. I love this Cologne. Never have i owned cool water. I don’t really feel the need to get it!
Body chemistry plays a huge part in what does or doesn't smell good on any given person. Some scents that other people rave about smell terrible on me. Aspen is one of those fragrances that work well with my body chemistry, it smells like a much more expensive cologne when I wear it.
Daaaayyyuuummmm this was one of my first fragrances when I was young, this and Anchor blue. Then I started wearing CK Eternity which I still love til this day no matter how many fragrances I own.
This was a home run back in middle school of the late 80s! Along with Pierre Cardin, Perry Ellis, Aramis, Adidas cologne, Polo and Gucci Noble... still have a quarter bottle of the Gucci Noble that I can't find it on any discount sites, and a half bottle of the extra large Adidas and my original Polo around 30 years later! Would have at least four bottles fragrance in my locker at any given time....along with an endless supply of Bubblicious bubble gum in the start of my fragrance Journey whereas people would pay me for the bubble gum and a few squirts of choice cologne between classes.... where I would take that money and purchase more fragrances Craigslist has! Although some pregnancies I would not share as I enjoyed smelling different and standing out from the rest of the crowd! That's even more reason I love your hidden gems videos and these throwbacks, where people will often tell me you smell great or amazing! Asking what I am wearing, which I found to be very pleasing as I love the recognition for not only smelling irresistible, but also original and unique to the crowd! Apologies for the rant! But very pleased to see the classic fragrance reviews from amongst the best in the community!
I agree with your take on it. I would like to add that I recommend trying the aftershave also because it has a strong rich scent to it and it might be hard to find. i got two tiny bottles off of ebay. I used to have aspen cologne as a kid so i'm nostalgic about the scent. I did notice also that with the size bottle you're using in this video it stopped spraying in an even mist for me and just shot out in a straight line unfortunately. I did get a smaller size bottle later and it sprays out well. the bigger bottle does have a nice unique 8 sided shape to it and it's made from glass rather than the small size being plastic.
Hey Steven. How are you. Hey I sprayed cool water on one arm and GIT on the other arm. They smell exactly the same on my skin. Wondering if I'm correct
Love your vids. What is interesting to me is I couldn't wear cool water or aqua de gio on my skin. It didn't smell good with my body chemistry. I could wear aspen and Sierra. I still wear them from time to time in my collection and still love them. Thanks for the review.
Fun video my friend! My first fragrance, I asked for it for Christmas when I was around 10 (‘92 ish). I can’t remember, any pine/fir vibe? I’d love to find a mid priced, more modern alternative to the old Polo Green.
Coty's batch codes are the easiest in the industry to decipher. They use it for their whole line including Calvin Klein. At 3:20, Batch code 9014 indicates it's a Jan. 14, 2019 bottle. These drugstore colognes all have their charms. Coty used to make something called Raw Vanilla which was just that - Vanilla....and a very strong vanilla. Like all day vanilla with a small splash. Jovan Musk is still nice. And let's not forget Stetson. As it dries down, the lingering smell of Stetson is still very reassuring. I really miss Pierre Cardin Musk.
I've stopped buying cheap fragrances, I find that I'll like it first sniff but then quickly grow tired of them and their synthetic edge. There is one exception though, I adore Liz Claiborne Curve, it's very light but smells fantastic, it's a great scent to smell nice up close but not want to fill a room with your cologne.
I just purchased Coty Aspen and to my surprise, it smells identical to Estiara Stag Black. Is it my nose or is it really true? When comparing the notes of the two, they seemed completely different with Estiara having the Iris notes and Aspen having the Pine notes. Now I feel like getting rid of either one.
Everybody and his brother wore this and Drakar Noir when I was in high school 24 years ago. Lol. The locker rooms reeked of it. But at least we smelled good. But I wore Elvis cologne. It smelled fantastic and now you can't even buy it. Thank God I still have some left.
You're getting 4-5 hours longevity with 1.5 hours projection with Aspen, but what are you getting with Cool Water and GIT in their current formulations to compare?
Yea back in the day they (Cool Water and Aspen) smelled very similar. They arent as similar with the new bottles today though. Aspen still smells similar but Cool Water has changed...
Stephen! I have an idea for a few videos that I really haven't seen anyone else doing being that you're going with Aspen on this one and have done other old school classics, and not knowing how many old school classics you own, an awesome couple of videos would be to do strictly a throwback top 5 classics that were the Talk of the Town back in perhaps too late 70s through the 80s maybe in 5 year increments like the top five in 1980, then the top 5 or 10 in 1985 and so on, and feature those in a few different videos for those in the community who have no clue about them as many do not with Aspen and others of its time! I have seen no one else doing that and thought it could be an original from your Channel with old school top 5 or 10, as I said maybe from 80 then 85, then 90 and so on
I remember wearing Aspen a long time ago. I was actually considering buying it again but since I just finished off my bottle of Cool Water and ordered a bottle of Tres Nuit. I will just skip it for now.
Aspen has a clean and fresh, masculine scent. And it’s a “skin scent,” which I personally prefer to one with a lot of projection. So when you’re wearing it and someone walks by you, he or she gets a hint of pleasant scent in the wake as opposed to getting hit in the face and inundated with it. It’s not for the guy who likes to fragrance the entire room he’s in with his cologne, heh
I have my bottle already 3 yrs and it is still almost full. To be honest a little ""too synthetic", synthetic is not always bad, but in this case, it bothers me. Actually, I much more prefer another cheapie which has similar vibes, Armaf Tres Nuit.
Hey Redolessence, Not many people review Bulgari man in Black, I want to know your opinion Which is better Bulgari man in Black OR gentleman Edp? Thanks so much
I have Aspen and really like it, but it is NO WAY smells even close to GIT. People say the same about Cool Water smelling like GIT and they are wrong too. Aspen CW, and GIT all smell nothing alike.
To me, It smells like Ber months, when the air starts to get colder and you know Christmas is coming. I am collecting 80's and 90's colognes. Is there a possibility that you're going to make reviews on similar kinds/category like C.O Bigelow lime coriander, 1902 berdoues ?
Green Irish Tweed is my favorite Creed fragrance been wearing it for over 12 years now and Aspen, to my nose, would be considered an alternative. Not even close
In high school my mom bought me a gift set that had aspen, gravity, and avatar. That was my introduction to aspen n I still keep a bottle of aspen in my collection. I also remember her buying me the gift set that contained curve, lucky, and candies. I thought I was a player in school smelling like coty products 😂😂😂
this was the first bottle of cologne i ever got, along with English leather and another one that came in a glass train bottle, i dont remember what that one was. maybe someone does?
Have you reviewed English Leather? Theres some current hubub about the new owner, new formula...the usual. My wife said Ambergris Showers reminded her growing up with her dad wearing EL. Great Aspen review btw. Any dupe recommendations? 😂
Can you provide a link to a recent discussion of English Leather? I know it was great when Mem released it in the wooden boxes. The current version from Dana that I bought a few years ago isn't bad but not as good as the Mem version. Dana was purchased a few years ago by Lynn Tilton, a sort of venture capitalist. Do they still make the oils here and have it bottled in Cnina? I can't imagine the transporting of the oils back and forth helps the fragrance any.
I remember guys in my middle school rocking this scent and putting me on to game. I thought it smelled sexy at the time and asked my mom to get it for me and she said no and insisted I continue to wear the old spice instead. Lol that was 30 years ago
I remember friends getting these cheapy fragrance sets as stocking stuffers growing up. The ingredients list is pretty harsh and skin dangerous too, I can only imagine how much worse they were back then in the 90s.
Please keep going with these reviews of classic fragrances. I am really enjoying them.

So when you’re wearing it and someone walks by you, he or she gets a hint of pleasant scent in the wake as opposed to getting hit in the face and inundated with it. It’s not for the guy who likes to fragrance the entire room he’s in with his cologne, heh
I love this more than daviddoff.
This vs tres Nuit?
I had this brand, its just a shame that it only comes as a cologne and not as EDT also or only as EDT
I have my bottle already 3 yrs and it is still almost full. To be honest a little ""too synthetic", synthetic is not always bad, but in this case, it bothers me. Actually, I much more prefer another cheapie which has similar vibes, Armaf Tres Nuit.
I prefer Tres Nuit as well! Thanks for sharing!
Armaf fragrance's are synthetic chemical bombs , they give me a headache. There oil based aswell so they don't project well.
Hey Redolessence,
Not many people review Bulgari man in Black, I want to know your opinion
Which is better Bulgari man in Black OR gentleman Edp?
Thanks so much
Man in black is one of best designer scents. You'd have to look super hard for a better cool weather scent.
This was my first cologne given to me by a friend
Anyone know how close the smell is to ysl Y intense black bottle?
In high school my mom bought me a gift set that had aspen, gravity, and avatar. That was my introduction to aspen n I still keep a bottle of aspen in my collection. I also remember her buying me the gift set that contained curve, lucky, and candies. I thought I was a player in school smelling like coty products 😂😂😂
Nice bottle and atomizer green orange🎉🎉❤❤❤
this was the first bottle of cologne i ever got, along with English leather and another one that came in a glass train bottle, i dont remember what that one was. maybe someone does?
hahaha... got this two weeks ago :D... it's great for when you wanna go out strolling in the park
what about if you layer them? coolwater and aspen
I keep a bottle of this year after year since kindergarten. That and Grey Flannel
For the summer do you have Homoelegans Tadzio, or have you smelled it. Your thoughts.
I've only heard of this but never tried it so it's great to get another perspective on it :)
Wearing sorisso by Profumum roma today.
Good scent bro.. but too hot for that right now here in orlando
I remember guys in my middle school rocking this scent and putting me on to game. I thought it smelled sexy at the time and asked my mom to get it for me and she said no and insisted I continue to wear the old spice instead. Lol that was 30 years ago
And now what you think of this?
I remember friends getting these cheapy fragrance sets as stocking stuffers growing up. The ingredients list is pretty harsh and skin dangerous too, I can only imagine how much worse they were back then in the 90s.
