Awesome content as usual! We own 13 RDX , currently at 102K Miles, purchased it at 77K miles . Our 13 RDX did encounter the VCM Spool Valve leakage that damaged the alternator 😢at 95K miles or so. I actually bought the spool valve aftermarket gaskets from o’reillys (Mahle brand) and replaced alternator with OEM alternator. Car currently at 102K miles and still dry. I do 3K mile oil change intervals also. At round 90K miles did the timing belt job and water pump and tensioner pulley replacement also! Ty for all your content. I was able to change the spool vavle gasket from your previous vid on it! 😊
I also plan on doing tranny 4 quart drain and fills every 15K miles and this last time i did that, I also changed the tranny inline filter located below the battery tray.

I have a 2016 technology package. 80k no mechanical issue. The only annoying thing is that the hard plastic latch that holds the center console/arm closed has broken 2 times. But that was an easy fix and it costs less than 5 dollars for the new latch. Other that nothing else.
My parents made the switch from Toyota to Acura in May of 2014 with a brand new 2015 RDX. It was fun to drive with lots of power but the ride wasn’t the best. The dealer ended up replacing all 4 struts under warranty which helped. About 6 months later one of the rear struts completely failed so I ordered some KYB replacements and that really helped. Other than a battery (warranty) and I think 1 set of pads all around and a set of front rotors that was it. They ended up trading it for a 2017 MDX Elite which isn’t as quick but rides a lot nicer. No issues with that either!
I love the k23 in the first gen, plus it looks awesome. Not too high on the 5 spd auto though. I think the simplicity of the 2nd gen is nice. The 3rd gen seems like it has it all. Good looks, great motor and trans. Just be prepared to do the top end service and stay on top of all fluids.
Thanks for this amazing video. I'm curious if 7 yrs should be followed strictly on timing belt changes, or 105k miles is more important. From the RDX user manual, there is nothing on timing belt replacement other than following the Maintenance Minder system. Should I just wait until the MM system tells me to do so? Thanks.
I've test driven several 2nd and 3rd gen RDXs, the 2nd gen is nice to drive but 3rd gen is WAY more engaging while still being very comfortable....I thought 2.0t and 10 speed auto has proven reliable so far, and with 2nd gen at this point if you buy used and belt hasn't been done yet, that's $1,000+ right off the bat you need to dump into it, prob can't go wrong with either option tho
My friend has a 2016 honda pilot, and she drives it like it's stolen so far, with 142k miles. the only thing it needs is the passenger side lower control arm, both stabilizer link bars replace. No leaks of any source.
Put a shield over the alternator... Those transmission fill hole plugs can get super tight. I had one that wouldn't budge and I didn't want to use a ton of force as it seems to be aluminum so the dip stick tube was used.
I’m hearing noise in my dashboard when I hit small pot holes on a 2020 Honda Passport Is there anyway to pinpoint whats the potential cause. It’s coming from the infotainment area.
What's your opinion on the first generation 2007-12 RDX? I know it's not a common engine, but I haven't heard about too many major issues with the K23A turbo engine. Also, have you came across any issues on the Prologue? I have one in the shop with the evaporator leaking with requires removal of the dash. It's a dealer car that hasn't been sold yet. I seen a few of them on TechLine with A/C problems.

I have a 2017 Acura Rex just bought from a dealership & it’s having issues accelerating to where I have to push down a good little ways on gas for it to get up & go & it struts a little when going up hills any reason it could be doing that? 90k miles on it
I just get a 2015 rdx with only 64k km on it, i have a question, is it really normal for that rdx model after i accelerate and let off my gas pedal the car is something like breaking a bit even if u dont step on a break? Is that normal for a 6speed automatic? Cause i own a nissan cvt transmission before that
I like the current RDX, but the touch pad infotainment system is a turn off. I'm sure I could get used to it though. At least Lexus is slowly going away from them.
I am currently in the market for a 2016-2018 with under 140,000 km (87,500 miles) so this is most informative. Thanks.
