I think it is because we've had some rumors of dogs that were on the loose getting taken and killed by a strange, large dog in front of the owners...

our world is so big, unexplored woods and water. we don't know what's out there, I wouldn't be surprised if unknown things lived there. I believe its a matter of time till we find them. I believe its all real till we have proof.
