What Surviving Near Death Illnesses Taught Me About Living & Legacy
Societal pressures and hustle culture often lead us astray from what truly matters in life.
Many of us abandon parts of ourselves in order to be who we think we need to be to have worth, value, and be accepted in this world.
However, when I sat on what I thought could be my deathbeds - I saw clearly how so many of us living in a hustle culture are all led astray from what truly matters in life. Up to that point, I had pushed people away in order to focus on achievements - and none of those diplomas were there to comfort me. I was the "good girl" who followed all the rules and aimed for perfection in order to feel worthy of love and acceptance. I never felt "enough." Nothing as ever "enough."
Reflecting on those experiences, including on my regrets, informed how I live, today, but I didn't change my ways right away. It took time to overcome the trauma of almost dying and learn new coping strategies in order to apply the lessons I share to my own life. I hope in sharing them, you may choose to live with intention, now, without having to face death before choosing to focus on what matters most. We don't always get another chance.
In a world where money scarcity is prevalent, we often overlook time scarcity. By accepting that our time is limited and respecting our mortality, we may live more fulfilling lives grounded on what truly matters, today.
What would you change if today is your last day here? What would you keep the same?

What an inspiring topic! 🙏 Surviving near-death illnesses often brings a deep perspective shift on what truly matters-living with purpose, cherishing every moment, and focusing on the legacy we leave behind. It's a reminder to prioritize health, relationships, and making meaningful contributions.
