What a great haul. Really cool jug! or ewer...lol...I will stick with jug😊. It looked on camera to be Terra cotta color but I know colors don't always show true especially in the red family, on camera. Loved those botanical prints...those are awesome. God bless 😊

For your kitchen island you can put ready made upper kitchen cabinets on the back side, they are 12" deep --- you'd have to add a base, easily done with 2x4's... then paint all to match & add your counter top.

    • @thepaintedsouth
      @thepaintedsouth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Good morning! Great idea! The old island was pretty much like that, but I wanted it to be longer with seating all along the back so the stools would slide under the countertop, if that makes sense. The butcherblock I purchased is 39" wide x 74" long. I may end up getting a different material. I also have some wood corbels I was thinking about using. The main issue is the electrical wires coming up through the floor. 🤦‍♀️ They need to be about 6 or inches over. I have some ideas on how to build it, it's just finding the pieces to pull it together.... on a budget. I know I could get exactly what I wanted, but I'm not willing to write that check just yet. Lol. Have an amazing weekend! Xoxoxo

Good morning! Love your plans for the seating area in the kitchen. The continuation of the brick from outside to inside should be very visually pleasing. By the way, ewer if pronounced you-er in the same way that ewe, a female sheep, is pronounced you. A ewer was originally used for transporting water so it was purposely designed with a small neck to help avoid spillage. Some ewers had plugs or stoppers. Small ewers were sometimes used in religious ceremonies. Over time it became a decorative object. Sorry, I was a teacher for 35 years, and it's hard for me to overlook an opportunity to teach. I hope you don't mind.

I LOVE this idea! I also LOVE that sofa in your kitchen! I hope you plan to keep it there! I changed my eat in kitchen into more of a lounge with a coffee bar and upholstered living room chairs with a little table. I figured we didn't need three places to eat ie. the snack bar, kitchen table and then a dinning room, so I cut out the kitchenette. When people come over they congregate to the kitchen and this gives a more loungy kind of cool space. Can't wait to see what you do!!! I love when people try to work on a budget. You don't need a lot of monet to make a big change. Just some elbow grease and some creativity!

That is exactly how I feel about the kitchen space! My husband and I agreed that whatever we did in this house, the furniture needs to be comfortable and it needs to make functional sense while being beautiful, if possible. Your lounge area with a coffee bar sounds perfect! ❤️ I hope you have an amazing day! Xoxoxo

Lots of lovely items. If you have an atrium/sunroom/garden room those botanicals would looks lovely in there.
When I built my island I used an antique English bankers desk, it was double sided and made from solid wood. It had been left outside in the elements for over 50 years, the man's great grandfather used it. The top which was made from a beautiful mahogany was so warped I had to drivey ute(truck) on top of it, first I soaked it, to straighten it out. Then I pulled the whole thing apart and rejigged it, adding pieces, building doors, to finish it. I managed to find a large slab of straight wood for the top and used the old top for the bottom. It works for us and we can move it, although it weighs a tonne so not something we do often 😁

    & Lynn,
I watch all of your videos, and love your redo projects! I'm surprised you want to faux brick that wall, brick is hard to clean. I seen your video on how you were texturing the kitchen ceiling, and that would look great on that wall too. A small fireplace or even a gas fireplace would be cozy against that wall. As far as your island goes have you ever considered a glass display case, an antique one like you'd see in a old jewelry/watch store, some of them sit higher up. You might find something like that at a antique store or auction. Anyway Deborah I can't wait to see what you do. I look forward to your videos ! Your kitties weren't helping you with this haul, they must of been napping on the job ! See ya next time ! 🙂💜Lynn
P.S. I loved the mama deer with her baby ! You have such a lovely place there !

Hello! At the moment, I have a butcherblock countertop to use. Later on, if and when we remodel the entire kitchen, I would do quartzite on any new cabinets. This is just a quick fix up to get us by for a few years. I'm going to see how the house functions for us before we do anything major. 😁 I do know I want all big drawers on the base cabinets! I like the curtains guest room I know they are more modern but they look fresh they off set all the old world looking stuff sometimes you have to add stuff that isn’t matchi matchi so your room dosent look dated. I have a tuscan style home and I’ve lived here 16 years and I did all the Tuscan paintings and roosters ect I have now tried to add updated things that still go with tuscan but not catchie or Theme but I realize I have to still keep my look that goes with tuscan or Napa valley but with a more fresh eye I certainly don’t buy all that heavy stuff anymore I can’t replace all my art I paid good money for them it’s just a balance I guess . Good job

This is very 1997 boring with ugly white laminate cabinets everywhere. I'm trying to add a little character without making it seem out of place or break the bank. I am almost finished the faux brick wall in the kitchen! Have a wonderful rest of the week! Xoxoxo

I loved your speed up blah, blah, segment, it sounded so funny and the look on you face at the end of it, haha, so cute.

I usually stay pretty quiet. I normally avoid commenting on any of my most favorite TH-cam Chanels, but I want you to know how much I love your style and taste in decor. I don’t want to sound rude or greedy, but I wish you would post videos more often. I get so excited when I see a new one. I savor every bit of it.
I know you’re very busy, but having the opportunity to watch you take an almost bare canvas (this new house) and turn it into a home with your artistic slant is so hard to wait for it. Please don’t take my comment the wrong way and think I’m being “pushy”. I know the things you do take a lot of time and creating a video every week or two adds up to an even larger endeavor. No matter how long it takes, I’ll be right here eagerly awaiting your next video. In the meantime, I just want you to know how much I love your “art”.

Good morning! Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it. 🤗 I totally understand how my channel would frustrate anyone, including myself. 😆 I always have the best intentions to post regularly. The past year has presented so many challenges for our family, so it has been very hard to stay consistent on TH-cam. My husband was dying last year and finally received his liver transplant in December. They also did other life saving organ surgeries, which I won't get into. We finally came home in mid January, but still had to travel back and forth to Charleston frequently. Then on February 16th, my oldest sister, that lives in PA and was like a mother to me, suddenly passed away. Grieving and traveling for her funeral was difficult. Since then, my husband had another 10 hour surgery and has been hospitalized additional times. Our son was also deployed to Kuwait since December 10th of 2021 and just came home on leave. So the past 2 weeks has been devoted to enjoying time with him. 🥰 He is actually heading back to base this morning. I will have a video up eityer today or tomorrow, though! I have a thrift haul and update on this faux brick wall to share. I'm almost done and I think it is looking pretty great! I am doing all these projects by myself, so it takes a little longer. I hope you have a Happy Fourth of July weekend. See you soon!😘 Xoxoxo

I should’ve kept to my usual policy and kept my comments to myself. I’m so sorry that you have so much happening, I had no idea. I mostly wanted you to know how much I love your channel and how eager I am for each one you post. I chose my words poorly and should’ve considered you might just possibly have a real life on the other side of this screen. My comment was truly more of a “tongue in cheek “ and a silly way for me telling you how much I love your work.
Simply saying “I love your work” should’ve been my entire text.
Thank you for sharing your story, though. I’ll be praying for you and your family. In the meantime, I’ll happily wait (no matter how long) for your next video.
