I've recently bought the EM-1 Mkll and 60mm macro and I'm blown away by the image quality. I've since added the 12-40mm Mk1 and will hopefully upgrade to the OM-1 Mkll later this year along with the stunning 90mm macro. The features on these cameras are amazing

Hello Thomas! Very good Video! To be quite honest I've own Nikon Z7 II and it's amazing camera but when OM1 came out few years ago I was near buying it becouse It was build well and looked like pretty good camera for hikes.

Hi Damian! I done something similar but I looked at the Nikon Z Range before choosing the OM1. I would certainly say that the Nikon Z Cameras are definitely the best you can get currently on the market however the price was quite high! And so after a few months research the closest I found to the Z range was indeed the OM1 System. They both have similar features, similar button layout and also lens options. However of course the biggest difference is indeed, Size, Weight, the Price and the fact the Nikon Z System is Full Frame! But the OM1 is indeed perfect for taking it out hiking due to it's lightweight size, Stong Build quality and it's got weather sealing! On the other hand if price wasn't a thing I'd certainly be choosing the Nikon Z Series over OM Systems just to get that bit better image quality and all the different features aswell. But as I like to call the OM1 "A Mini Nikon!"

@@tomleachphotography1 I started my journey with a DSLR Nikon APS-C camera, then I bought a Canon M50 (a quite amazing little camera). Because I was using cheap lenses, Canon images looked worse to me than Nikon's, and that's why I began my full-frame journey with Nikon. But now, after many years, I have come to understand that image quality is about much more than just the camera brand or even the sensor size. That's why I would have so much fun using OM Systems. 20MP is plenty if the photographer knows how to use them. And far more important than sensor size is having a camera with you on all occasions. Maybe I will change my mind again when I buy a large-format printer. Who knows?

Do you have the OM1 MK1 or MK2?
If the MK2, then this will have graduated neutral density filters available as part of the computational features, so you might not need to use the physical square filters.
Another thumbs-up for shooting landscapes at f5.6 - f8 on MFT.
If / when you are in a position to expand your kit, look no further than the excellent OMD 40-150 F4 Pro; truly brilliant.
Another great thing about MFT is that here I am recommending my favoured f stops for landscape photography, and a possible next lens, whilst I am a Panasonic user (G9).

    Hi Thomas
nice video. What is the reason why you switched to Om-system? In terms of weight and price, Om-system is unbeatable. but the MFT sensor properties have their pros and cons. but if you know how to edit the MFT files, you can get very good photos. I see very different results. The Dutch Om-system ambassador Guido van de water has photo editing well under control, with beautiful photos as the end result. Don't forget that with MFT everything doubles. so your F/13 is in full frame F/26. which can be too much for the photo and can negatively affect the result. finally. You can have the most beautiful high-quality lenses and optics, but backlight is very difficult to deal with. you will then have to look more in the creative corner. I'm going to follow you for a while and look forward to your next videos and your journey with the Om system.

For landscape f5.6-f8 is probably best. Remember f5.6=f11.2 in depth of field on FF. Great video!
