- A spooky song for spooky month, Cherry Wine is one of my absolute favorites. An irreverent, hopefully-expectations-defying little murder ballad that Josh and I put on our 2021 album "Unamericana" (as The Other Favorites).

A unique voice in music. Carson baritone pitch is so strong and his phrasing so distinctive that he can sound like a full band with just a rhythm guitar accompaniment. Impeccable choice of material.

This is a quintessentially Carson ballad. BUT, for some reason, when the .357 put a hole through his chest, the song started reminding me of El Paso - the young, brash lover too overcome with love for his girl to care about his life. I loved listening to this!!

This sounds so good! I love this original! Sounds like a hit from the 50's or 60's from one of the great musicians of the time, but it's uniquely you - not derivative of anything.

They say the most successful songs sound vaguely familiar - I can't decide whether this is the traditional folk song "Wayfaring Stranger", Chris Rea's "The Road To Hell" with the bridge from "You're The One That I Want" from Grease, or something else. Good song either way. ;)
The chorus reminds me of Wayfaring Stranger, but at some level they can even be in a dialogue of some sort :)
