Please avoid discussing renewable supplies, especially solar and wind, without including batteries. SWB -- solar, wind, and batteries -- is the answer for African and the planet. This applies from village to continental scale. Issues like intermittency and frequency control can be fully mitigated by design with SWB -- with little use of old grid metrics. Excess SWB, especially solar, can be used for making clean water... or a hundred other critical needs.
