I am on this journey with you even though I originally signed up for your cozy home tours and spinach casserole for the holidays. It’s like when you have an old friend and suddenly they are into baseball and you are not a sports fan. You support them anyway and may learn something. I hate camping, but am here for this journey

Well said! Wow, I can't even imagine doing this alone. I also have been with you since the beginning and it's awesome how you've evolved in the best way. The guy lines hanging off the rain fly are crucial to keeping your tent dry in really wet weather. By pulling them taught and securing them, it creates a surface that’s tight as a drum and away from the walls of your inner tent. So water can run off easily and doesn’t condensate through to the inner tent!

The ties on the rain flap are used to pull the flap off the main tent material which helps keep the main tent drier in rain and also with airflow. You use tent pegs and pull each string out from the tent and secure in the ground.

I'm so glad you made it to Door County! It's one of our favorite places to camp (although we are more glampers than anything). The colors along the Door Peninsula are gorgeous in later October as the trees turn. We stayed in a cabin on Washington Island one summer and it was beautiful! I've always wanted to make it to Rock Island State Park. I hope you come back to Door County and bring the kiddos - especially in the summer, Peninsula has a pretty beach that is fun for them to play in the sand and dip their toes in the lake. I love watching your new journey :)

I've traveled all over the world and Door Co. still remains one of favorite places ever! We stay for a week every summer. No camping for us, but hike and bike and attend the outdoor theater in Peninsula State Park every year. So beautiful, Jen. Good for you for taking on tent camping. You're a brave soul. PS: the name of the peninsula is The Door Peninsula.

Hi Jen. When you get up to backpacking and tent camping, you will have to try doing Pictured Rock in Michigan. My son and his girlfriend did that. He said it was so awesome. We live in Indiana so it wasn't too far from home for them. I love that you are finding yourself and enjoying the outdoors. I didn't realize how great it can be until my youngest son was in Boy Scouts and I had to tag along as a second adult on many of the outings and camping trips. Such a wonderful thing being away from all of the distractions this world has created. Please keep sharing your adventures. It is nice "living" through others experiences and seeing places that I wouldn't get a chance to visit. Have a great day and upcoming holiday!

It would be good to have a hammer, rubber hammer/mallet, some nails and screws, and a tool box with a few tools like a screwdriver, wire plyers, wire cutter, semi heavy duty wire, and also a pair of jumper cables. And it's always good to drive with a box of fluids for the vehicle, water, antifreeze, oil, transaction fluid, etc. And it's good to have an antifreeze tester for your tank. It tells you if it is mixed enough for hot temperature and also for freezing or cold days and or nights. ♥️♥️♥️

My hubby doesn't share my dream of camping so I have to live my dream through someone else. Would love to see a video on what you pack for a camping trip. You are very brave. I really admire your courage to live your dreams and not let anything hold you back. Well done!! 🙏🏼🥰💕🏕⛺️

Jen, how do you defend against ticks (esp in summertime) ? Took my kids to a state park this summer and my 5 year old had a tick bite that scared me to death, considering the long term effects of Lyme disease. I had the tick tested and thankfully it wasn’t carrying Lyme disease. Since then, I panic when they go out for walks on trails. Please share what do you use and if you worry about it. Thank you. And thanks for sharing your adventures. Love your videos.
