- Have you all heard about the Olympics of Kerala? The Snake Boat Race?
Before you let your thoughts run wild about the race, let us tell you, it has nothing to do with snakes. The race gets its names from the shape of the boat that the oarsmen race on. The locals call it Chundan Vallam, a canoe-style boat.
We attended the 62th edition of Nehru Trophy Boat Race in Kerala. The serene backwaters of Kerala was transformed into a sea of battle. Villagers from Kuttanad and the neighboring regions along and the tourists from all over the world flock to Punnamada Lake in Alleypey to witness the biggest water carnival.
On this episode of I Love My India, Kamiya Jani Verma takes you through the journey of snake boats hissing down the lake with their eyes set on victory and nothing less that.

Many words in Malayalam are diffi cult to pronounce to the people from outside Kerala and also to foreigners. They are doing a great service to the state by projecting our culture. So please don't mock at them.

It's not snake boat race, research more, this one is just chundan vallam, the real snake boat is palliyodam, It is made in the shape of Anandashayana. Anandan That we called, Anandan is a snake and is the bed of Vishnu, It takes place in Aranmula in the eastern part of Kerala. It's called uthrattathi vallamkali, which means Uthrattathi snake boat race.

Bruh its a camp and they are trainned by professional players like national level player are trainning them
Actually most of the time these guys are coming from working class family, they find extra time for this participation from their usual day today activities. Some of them don't even know there is a completion item called rowing. I too coming from alappuzha. Most of us have rowing talent by birth. But we don't nurish and cherish our natural talent. Because most of our parent wants us to study and get a stable job.
