      i agree. the added presence from the aluminum speakers on the hartke are really great. years ago, my bassist had a markbass like that and he hooked about my hartke 1410's speakers with it... very nice sound lows, bumped up mids in the right places and that added detail trebley presnce of those hartke "metal" cones is an excellent combo... hey no ampeg lovers? it sounds great too just not as processed... more natural sounding than the markbass

    Bear in mind while watching this video, while the eq is "flat" on the markbass, the vle and vpf are essentially eq curves themselves. VLE cuts highs, while VPF boosts lows and highs, and scoops mids. Demos like this are great, but not a very accurate representation of the amps. Nothing beats trying it out for yourself, where you can actually adjust the tone. Scoop that ampeg a bit, and I swear there is nothing sweeter :)

    Studio work anywhere is so easy with Markbass. So light, but never ceases to impress the other musicians with it range of tones. I owned a 15" LM combo. Traded it away for a Gibson SG. Love the SG, But miss my LM. Will buy another again soon. Just too versatile not to have in my quiver. Though very nice, it is limited as well. OK for small venues, but that would be the end of the road for the Littlemark and the beginning of the trail for my USA built Ampeg head boasting 1600 watts of massive tube power, pushing one 8x10 fridge cab and also my dual 15" Mesa cab. This head was designed to push 2 fridges and played with a P-bass. But I prefer my setup, while playing my fender custom shop fretless jazz bass into this big venue game changerWhen you need to go big, have some space to fill with sound, don't want to get lost in the mix and want something that will make all the ladies get off their stools, head to the floor and really shake it like they want to break it, then Ampeg will never disappoint a soul. from fan to soundman. Once you stand on that big stage, over the sea of fans and see and feel for yourself, you will then understand what all the Ampeg fandom is all about. You will understand and all debate will come to a stop. WARNING!!!! In a small space, you better get a note from your doctor first. If it is turned up in a spall space and your not ready for it..... Not for the faint of heart. Personally, I'm not scared. Love how it makes the hair on my legs stand straight out and quiver. Feels good! Also like feeling the cool air being pushed out of the cabs on those hot days. If you don't want the folks next door making a scene, let me share some of the most important advice your lible to hear. I can't bark loud enough about the absolute importance of investing in good quality corner room bass traps. Go floor to ceiling with them. This is not an area where you ever go cheap and while your at it, put a good sound seal on the room doors. Foam, eggcrates and such are OK for guitars and such. Bass is another beast. We are talking air pressure and its movement. So, pack those cracks, when you want to crank those stacks, to help your neighbors relax, lessen local police attacks and hep steer landlords from your tracks. Just made that up. I like it! oh yea, playing well will go a long way in solving problems. Over all, liked your demo. Good work!

    Not a meaningless assessment. The small Markbass sounds very much like my bigger Markbass setup. Crisp and direct. My old Roland never got that same sound. We should have more of these comparisons. Well done!

    Markbass all the way!
    I played through both the T112P and the T115P from Markbass, and all I can tell you is that for studio work, and small spaces, that cube 115 speaker was unbeatable in sound.
    On stage, you needed twin 115 with their 800W bass heads, which where very expensive, as the single 115 didn't cut it, and a twin 115 with the 300/500W F1 head flattened out all the punch.

    The Markbass + Hartke sounds KILLER though! I mean, don't get me wrong. I still favor the Ampeg. But if we consider tone & not volume capabilities, that Markbass + Hartke tone is a pretty sweet friggin' tone!

  • @mrivers3
    @mrivers3 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ampeg surely has a more warm full tone. But what we seem to forget is that that killer tone coming from markbass is a 28 lbs total combo amp.You can walk into any small to medium sized bar or small club carrying your bass and rig in one trip and have great tone and enough power to do the job just fine. This little amp is 300 watts alone and 500 with a cab.Ya really can't go wronge.I have the cmd 121,very impresive light wieght ,full sounding little powerhouse,i love it.I couple bit with a hartke 210 cab.

    Ampeg. But that's a full cabinet with head. The other's are smaller combo amps. So the Ampeg had a more complete sound. Markbass sounds great, but I feel it's only for funk players, accenting the mid tones.

    I love the Markbass amps, I had the 121p, The Jeff Berlin Combo and the 800watt Tube amp head with markbass two tens.. For bigger venues I add my Avatar 4x10s cab to the Markbass 2x10.. I mostly use it with an Upright Bass ( Slap Rockabilly style) and a Rickenbacker... Also pissa in the recording studio.. The MarkIII and 800 watt tube great amps, you will never need to buy another....

    well...it depends what you want right...i mean, the Ampeg seems to be "deeper" and more "ambient" souning, good for those psychodelic Background sounds...the Markbass is "snapier" with more clarity, better for slapping and things like that...i like both

    Markbass tiene definición y cuerpo, la nota suena mas clara no confundiéndose con el bombo y eso es lo que se busca en un stage, Ampeg es mas tradicional tienes que tocar tu bajo de otra manera para tener claridad, pero cuando logras equilibrar eso, suena bien

    The Markbass sounds pretty killer,but when i go onstage,"if its a pro level gig,i definitly want the industry std. & thats gotta be a big ol' SVT stack with an 8/10 cab!

    • @ErikFritz
      @ErikFritz 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you were playing a "pro level" gig in the 1970s-80s, then yes, the Ampeg would be the industry standard. But these days, look around at the pros and you'll see a healthy diversity: Mesa, Hartke, Ampeg, Genz-Benz, Fender, GK, Markbass, SWR, and others. Perosnally, if I go on stage, I'd take what sounds the best rather than the name I think makes me seem like a "pro."

    • @1dabirdman68
      @1dabirdman68 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe so,but nothing sounds quite like an ampeg thru 8/10's as long as you have some help too set it up..Now,in our club level gigs i use a Fender Bassman with a 15 & 2/10 cabs and its more than sufficient,& easy on the back.

      Erik Fritz Peavey was the industry's standard, not ampeg.

    • @atta1798
      @atta1798 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erik Fritz it depends......AMPEG is a world class amplifier specially the fridge......Ampeg SVT 8x10 ....it has a great vintage unique sound.......next Hartke has the best 21st century modern tube like sound......a driver of paper & aluminium...clear sound etc Jaco Pastorius & Wooden used/uses them.....so these guys do not know about amps/cabinets?...it depends on how old you are and how your taste was developed.....nothing like that amp or the Hartke......I played the 10 inch 400watts Markbass and I thought it was awesome one day in Guitar Center...I played the Ampeg....Ampeg wins far out.....this video is not well organized.......Hartke was never alone...the wattage of the different cabinets not specified....etc......I believe that Mark bass is about 300-400watts...that Hartke not near that wattage......
      Again at the end it depends on the taste....but nothing like the 810 amp set World Class recognized.........and so is Hartke....Markbass...ok good punch but it lacks of warmth and quality bottom end....yet a great amp....just like wine..unless you know...you will never know......

    Finger play Markbass stays clean, Ampeg gets some overdriven bass, both keep their vibe. Roland sounds dull, bad eq ?
    For slap Markbass should have more VPF, 3 is too low, 8 is a good tune, VPF is the slap eq and should have been seriously used for the test. The soud stays decent but would have been great with the good settings.
