Pakistan's strategic depth policy, both in its military and political dimensions, has become increasingly problematic and counterproductive.
Afghan Taliban is attacking Pakistani army inside Pakistan and killing them.
The strategic depth policy of Pakistan:
Pakistani military establishment have justified meddling in Afghanistan to attain "strategic depth" against India.
The idea is that Pakistan could withdraw its forces into Afghanistan and reorganize to launch counterattacks if India were to invade.
This concept has been widely criticized by Pakistani analysts and experts as being impractical and even detrimental to Pakistan's interests. It implies that the Pakistani military would abandon its own people and territory to operate out of Afghanistan.
It has undermined Afghanistan's internal security and stability, as Pakistan has extensively interfered in Afghan affairs to cultivate proxies and maintain influence.
The policy has led to the rise of extremism and militancy within Pakistani society, as the military has supported and empowered ideological non-state actors.
It has resulted in a loss of Pakistan's internal sovereignty, as the military establishment has dominated the policy process at the expense of civilian leadership.
The policy has created a civil-military power imbalance in Pakistan, with the military wielding disproportionate influence over foreign and security policy.
Pursuing strategic depth has diverted Pakistan's attention and resources away from addressing its genuine security challenges, such as internal militancy and economic development
Pakistan's strategic depth policy has become a failed and flawed approach that needs to be abandoned in favor of more pragmatic and sustainable security strategies.

Now India's NSA is handling everything so there's no need to have all those theatrics and dramas of people to people, movies, cricket, cultural exchange business etc. As per WTO, MFN status is a necessity for business. Is it possible for Pakistan to give that? So better to carryon with the status quo.
