    Today we're going to use what we've learned so far about op amps & active filters while learning a new type of filter (Twin-T filter) to create a really simple to use DIY 808 style kick drum synth!

    I love it, how your “upstairs” gives me a sort of eerie feeling, as though youve stowed your gear and components up in this attic. Like you’ve snuck up into the rafters at your grandparents’ house, or even better your grandparents’ neighbors’ house, and you’ve made this space into your lab! Maybe it’s the upstairs from the ground level of a building at a nearby university. Regardless of whether your presence is lawful or not, your motives are pure, so you get the pass from me!! Thanks again! You are one of few EE types who are so naturally drawn to electronics,
    whose discussions of this stuff sounds practically instinctual, and your interest and enthusiasm surrounding this stuff is not only contagious but you hold a definitely potent and valuable talent and intrigue that makes you a natural teacher of this topic which you so cherish!!

      Such kind words!
      I won't spoil the enigma of my "upstairs" since your backstory is much more interesting than the truth

    Brilliant. I've watched a lot of electronic-applied-to-music tutorials, these are by far the most understandable!

      They sure are! I've watched a lot too and it seems like most other tutorials leave out fundamental pieces of information assuming that everybody already knows (the left out part). I've noticed a lot of brilliant people that are not good teachers. This guy is a really good teacher and I've learned a lot, still learning. I'm going to make the drum pad design that he's got up here next.

    I’ve seen my share of twin tee filters but this was the best explanation that actually clicked with me 👍

    Great video, awesome explanation :) What kind of capacitors are you using? Are all ceramic or different? It would be nice if you provided the BOM along with your schematic. I hope you continue making videos like this

    Ohhhhh Thank You Dude ! now some other stuff i been seeing is starting to make sense.... Thank You So Much ! ......imagine if audio equipment were affordable, and we all would never take these opportunities to get smarter.

    Thanks for this. Looks like a great little project. However, I am am having a tough time visualising the layout - neither the video or the circuit diagram show the power supply, audio out or trigger part of the circuit.

    Enjoy the video, what kind of bipolar capacitors are those? All I have for bipolar are ceramic disc.. are they okay? I also have many electrolytic (unipolar).

    I see you used 3 pot values.. I wanted to ask, does the pot value matter?
    I understand we might get wider range in larger value but what if we used all pots as voltage dividers?
    In that case the value shouldn't matter right?

    Do you power this from 12v?

    • @TheAudioPhool
      @TheAudioPhool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I supply all these from 9v atm so that they sound the same as most beginner's circuits who will probably use a 9v battery, but the cool thing about CMOS is that you can power them with anything from 3-18v! So 12v will be fine.

      @@TheAudioPhool If powering from 5V, will the values of the resistors and caps need to be changed?

    • @tactilesounds
      @tactilesounds 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, I think that I can answer my own question. The passive components won't need to be changed. The output will just be quieter.
