This video reviews British Airways' flight from London Heathrow (LHR) to Singapore (SIN) in January 2018.
Video includes footage of the First Galleries Club lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5, details of the in-flight experience.
My first flight on the Airbus A380 was on this route and I was really glad to enjoy again the "King of the skies" superior level of comfort.
It's so spacious and quiet - enjoying lower noise levels in the cabin during a night flight is much more enjoyable.
The outbound flight BA 11 was operated by an Airbus 380-800 registration G-XLEA. This aircraft first flew in July 2013 and was the first A380 to be delivered to British Airways.
Flights from the UK to Singapore take about twelve and a half hours. British Airways operate flights twice a day. BA 11 leaves at 7:05PM - it's my preferred choice as you enjoy time onboard
for dinner and a movie before
catching some sleep. You also get to arrive in Singapore just before 4PM the next day. At the time of publishing, BA operates A380 to Boston, Chicago, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Singapore and Vancouver.
Before my flight I went to the Galleries First lounge (access through my Gold card). A good place to relax before the flight and enjoy a quick snack and drink
(I knew that I would be able to enjoy a dinner once on-board).
I was sitting in the upper deck Club World cabin - it was a 2-3-2 layout, so less crowded than on the main deck (2-4-2). The seat has an elegant herringbone fabric but to get
a 5 star rating would need to be wider (with a better pillow/blanket please). The cabin crew were very friendly.
A window seat offers more privacy but most window seats require to climb over the aisle passenger's footstool during the flight. Thankfully I selected one of the very few window seats
with an aisle access that doesn't require any gymnastics (53A).
The selection in the Club Kitchen wasn't as great as it used to be. The chocolates were just cheap junk food.
I look forward to trying the new beddings and dinner experience. Alas on this flight BA had only changed the amenity kit (BA used to provide 3M yellow ear plugs and the new alternative is simply poor quality.
I appreciate that BA has to keep costs under control but going for
cheaper AND poor quality items is not the right move)

Thanks for checking my latest video. I really enjoyed this flight to Singapore and I am glad I can share this experience with you.
The last few weeks have been incredibly busy - which also means I have a great backlog of content (and more exciting trips to come).

Very nice video! I don’t know why but the A380 landing always sounds like a tea trolley clattering down a corridor! 😂
😂😂
Changi my favorite airport in the world. My first trip to LHR is in July. Very nice video. Subscribed
Thank you Steven. I really appreciate your nice feedback and subscription.
Changi is indeed a great airport. I feature more this airport on a trip report I did of a flight to HCMC: th-cam.com/video/ZRbjLcOkTks/w-d-xo.html I thought you might enjoy this video.
I hope you'll enjoy your trip to the UK in July. Regards,
Nice video ! Always love seeing -LEA & friends when I am HK at the Pier :) Cheers
Thanks Keith. Really glad you enjoyed it. I have another long haul flight booked with BA, I wonder which member of the A380 family I'll get to spnd time with
I am so excited about going on this flight but it is in ages I am going on exactly the same flight! Also I was looking for ideas for when I did my review of the flight and this is the perfect video to help me
Hey, I am really glad you enjoyed it and I am sure you'll greatly enjoy it. Thanks for watching
Nice footage. I travelled the same route.
OliverTravels thanks Oliver. Did you fly this route in summer?
Beautiful video, Singapore is always worth a trip. BA gets a lot of criticism, but the lounge at LHR looks so neat, if only they could give direct aisle access to everybody :-).
Thank you :-) Singapore is indeed a fascinating destination (I might do a short video about the Santosa monorail). With so many direct flights from Heathrow, I guess BA can be slightly more complacent with the standards of their business class. If you need to convince pax to connect via Doha you just need to try harder and offer a better product in business.
Thanks for watching and your kind comment
Did you change your channel name?
Singapore has so many cool places to film, one of my favourites are the Gardens by the Bay. Yes, I changed the channel name as part of a bigger plan to make channel and the other platforms I use ready for new content.
Excellent I look forward to your updates :-)
Catering on the LHR - SIN A380 seems to be far superior to that on the EWR - LHR A380. But I do wish BA would do something about the Bus Class seating, I can put up with the for and aft (after all, everyone used to want the seats with backs to the engine on trains), but not haveing direct access to the aisle is the pits.
Hi thanks for watching.
A few seats in Club World have direct aisle access. I chose one of them - more info in the video description. Worth selecting your seat early if possible
Very nice... i like this airline..
Thank you :-) Really glad you enjoyed it.
On a side note, I am not sure if you saw my recent video of the tram in Tenerife: th-cam.com/video/SeppS4Pi2CU/w-d-xo.html (don't forget to get the sound on!) Enjoy
Great video and good service! Used the same music in a video which isn't published yet I guess.. So don't wonder 😝
Flight Time thanks for your great feedback and your kind reference to the music on your video. Just shows we made two great choice. Which airline / destination will you feature?
Nice video. I would love to ride business class on the A380! I wonder if you can open your window during the flight without upsetting your neighbors who might be still sleeping with the sunlight coming in? I like the LHR tram shots you got! Lol!
I'd love to try again BA's First class - such a nice experience.
I only open the window briefly (I find pax who snore very loudly more of an inconvenience... and throughout the flight - hence the need for quality earplugs!!! On a previous flight, I remember finding out with horror that someone just behind me began to snore just as the plane was taxiing! The 4 engines felt quieter than his nasal roaring "turbojet")
When flying across the pond I wish I could get a notice when the northern lights can be seen. A discreet message via the IFE would be so cool
I can’t wait for the BA A380 to start flying to ORD! Do you know when this is supposed to start?
As early as 4th May I believe.
it will be on the later flight
I'm flying from SG to Heathrow (and back) on this flight next month! Although this video was a short while ago, do you know if anything about the business class has changed? Like the new bedding you mentioned that is supposed to be changed soon. Thanks!
This rollout has been SO slow, I would really hope that BA has the new bedding available especially on LHR / SIN by now. It's a long & highly competitive route. Could be worth to contact BA - they are usually quite reactive on Twitter or other viewers might have an update to share. Thanks for watching
I am doing this exact thing tomorrow
Zebzena345 excellent... Hope you enjoy your flight. It would be great to hear your thoughts about it
Speedbird1 FLY ok I will reply to the comment wen I get there thanks

nice video: the food looks great but the design of the BC cabin is awful
Tjitte Kamminga my mum works for ba and they are going to be changing the interea in club world
BA has always been below par , they are lucky they are state airline ....
Thanks for watching. could be worth noting that BA was privatised in 1987. Although not a state airline, they still benefit from their very strong position at Heathrow.
BA has fallen behind when it comes to the customer experience - when BA introduced the flat beds in business, it was market leading. No longer is.
