Why didn't Odie talk in the GARFIELD movie?

FACT/S - So why couldn't Odie talk in GARFIELD movie? Was it a 'Dog thing' in the movie? No.. All the other dogs could talk just fine, but Odie could only bark. So in the original comics, Odie was always shown as pretty dimwitted. But in the movie, he seems super smart, doing things like calculating train jumps, making a lasso to save Garfield, and breaking into a milk farm. So it's not that he's too dumb to talk. Maybe Odie is just so smart he doesn't need words to communicate. And actually, Odie has spoken before-he said "I'm hungry" in a comic strip years ago. So he can talk; he just prefers to express himself differently. Smart Odie..

the reason why he was so smart (I think) was because in the bit where auto was making there character, and odie was the smart squirrel which means auto must’ve been mind controlling them to there personality of there characters. So they are able to sneak to get the milk.
