What you need to do Brooksy is get an 18gauge needle and as soon as you boat fish from that depth you come back about four scales and under the lateral line and needle it under the scale and you can hear the swim bladder deflate . Take the happy snaps and send them back , they have a better chance of survival. Other option is eat them
Nice fish, nice session! I’d love to see you use a descending device to return some fish with barotrauma on your channel. I think it would be interesting to a lot of people to see how it’s done, and you’d set a great example. You can rig one up with a barbless single hook tied upside down with a big weight hanging below it- just hook the fish in the lip, drop it back down to depth, and give the rod a sharp jerk to release it. Studies show it increases release survival dramatically!
Lollipops for the WIN !!! "It's not big enough to lean on and put it in the Gimby" ..... GOLD ...... Damn .... 1st fish on the YEMEN JIG ... Bloody Red Scroat !!! Always entertaining when you pair get together !!!
@@larsvegas1505 Zander and perch are built differently than most fish in that regard. Nevertheless, a pressure change of 60m to the surface can´t be healthy. The fish is bloated af and probably has torn tissues.
You can buy tools to slowly drain the air bladder, or make your own. I know guys use em in the Gulf of Mexico to release snapper safely. If you jig it's worth it to have one handy and protect the resource
The very Definition of Hell is when you're in the middle of a major Breakdown at Work but Brooksy posts new Content... Finally got a few minutes for a cigarette and the Video... Time to collect my shattered self and thank the LEGEND for keeping me sane! Thanks Brooksy!
Would you consider getting morning tide together for a reunion trip? It would be epic, I started watching all of you guys together. I mean I know you guys all do your own thing, but it would be cool.
Nice video, some great catches! I have a Zoom meeting to attend with a couple hundred other friends and coworkers in 45 minutes. We are all saying goodbye to a great friend. He is on hospice with stage 4 throat cancer and he probably will not be around for another week. Going to miss him. You might want to rethink smoking, can’t think of anything worse that you could do to yourself. 🥂
I've got a lollipop! I've got a lollipop! Lol the vernacular made my night! We do the same thing here on the Oregon coast but we only have a name for the big fish. A hitchhiker.
Nice little preview Brooksy. Good to see you out with Jack again and no boat drama. Hopefully we get the full rundown in another video. Was that Matty on his lonesome in the background?
Hey man. Are you Slow jigging with the Saltiga 14k? I don’t see people slow jigging with spinning reels. It’s more the technique or the spinning reel must be specific for slow jigging? Thanks
i went bottom dropping for the first time a week ago and caught a wrasse. so beautiful. im a taxidermist and its going to be the next addition to the wall. was only a 36 cm female im assuming but still beautiful. great work mate
jigging I meant to say I recognise the Saltiga. THe other possibly the new Certate or the Catalina. Just looking at getting a ne w Certate for some jigging. They have new sizes coming out. Looking for info.
Brooksy, hello, a special thank you for the video, please tell me in Oman, did a professional guide meet you? I'm going to Oman in two weeks on a fishing trip, can you tell me a contact? thank
@@JonnyBrooksFishing true still u should use a depth dropper like I use here on the west coast for rockfishing. You just drop the fish down with the weight and it releases hitting the bottom so it survives. You can also pop it’s belly cavity or just keep it at that point if you have none of that
The humphead maori wrasse cheilinus undulatus is completely protected species in all gbr waters they always inhabit certain bombies and targeting them is illegal by the look of the thumb nail you are and were targeting them. Nice work Brooksy 👎

I don't think fish from such a great depth could survive after the release.
nah me2 ive seen studies on zander.. 90% die if u catch them deeper then 10 meters... better just take the fish at that point...

You need a Seaqualizer descending device. They work great. We must carry a device up here in British Columbia when fish for bottom dwellers.
Wow, amazing. Big and nice fish. Very beautiful. I like.
Frothin' at the fish you catch! Winter has ruined the fishing in Texas!
