My parents are gone from this earth, as well; my husband also. This hymn is so comforting and beautiful! I recently imagined them standing on a riverside peer, surrounded by a lush meadow, with flowers, and snow-capped mountains, waiting to board a riverboat. They were smiling and laughing as they looked back at me. Their eyes said I should not be afraid, they were happy and at peace and we will be together again, someday; live your life, do God’s will. We love you and will pray for you! They got on that boat and headed for the Crystal Sea 🙏💗🙏
We shall walk through the valley of the shadow of death, We shall walk through the valley in peace. And if Jesus himself shall be our leader, We shall walk through the valley in peace. There will be no sorrowing there, There will be no sorrowing there, And if Jesus himself shall be our leader, We shall walk through the valley in peace.
If Jesus ever had convincing representation in this world, it is through ensembles like this who embody and communicate an abiding spirit of companionship and uplifting sensibility of love incarnate across mountaintops and valleys. Regardless of one's religious background, or absence or abdication thereof, the image of a loving Jesus leading the way through "the Valley" of death has deep consolations and healing wisdom that will speak to those of us crossing into valley, and to those who remain behind.
Yes he is singing high tenor but not falsetto soprano. So, again, who is singing the falsetto soprano? It used to be a short chubby bald guy but he isn't with them anymore
I don't know how long it will be on the MPR website but here is the link for now! www.classicalmpr.org/story/2016/09/27/cantus-and-chanticleer-live-from-orchestra-hall
The video of them singing Ave Maria is still on TH-cam, but it is unlisted for some reason. If you managed to like it before they set it to unlisted, you can still find it in your liked videos. I dunno if posting the link here is safe since I'm guessing they unlisted it for a reason?
Me also. I listen to this song every morning since my mother died. It gives me hope!!
And time stands still for about 3 min. What an amazing thought. What an amazing sound. May it be so.
I sang this over and over again to myself after my mom and dad died. It is so consoling. Thanks for the beautiful performance.

This performance is moving and amazing. The precision and blend outstanding.
What a beautiful performance. William Appling was the arranger of the first verse.

Deeply moving.
Cantus and Chanticleer in the same venue at the same time... now that's a serious Gig... gotta love 0:56 where Eric et al kicks in first...
So very beautiful. And consoling.
Wunderschön gesungen! Ein Lied für die Ewigkeit. Gott möge diese Stimmen segnen und lange erklingen lassen.

Who is singing so high? Which one (s) please???

I sing with Chanticleer as a student, so I can tell you who the high voices, aka countertenors, are. From left to right: 3, 4, 8, 12, 18, 20.
#9 from right, as amazing high as Eric is low......
Anyone know where to get sheet music for any version of this? Thanks so much
Where is the video of them singing Ave Maria at this concert??? I can't find it anymore!
