I forgot about Brad but realized it was him after people mentioned Texas.
During Covid, when Houston rooms reopened, in 2020 and 2021, he was crushing, absolutely crushing the high stakes PLO games. On the side, him and a guy named Don would do $10k flips on the flop (think red / black). Don and him would throw $10k bundles of cash across the 5/10/20 PLO table.
In 2022 when I moved to Houston, he was nicknamed Bad Brad. But he was still crushing the games. He won over $500k in the TX rooms in 6 months alone.
I remember when he stacked me and did not even realize it. All in on flop, and he hits runner runner flush and did not realize it. I tabled my hand and he said nice hand, had this, tables his hand and dealer points out he hit a flush for $10k pot. Brutal.
In 2022, he disappeared at one point and people said he moved to California. Good to see he’s still having fun in poker. Man though, he was insanely splashy on HCL.

Same here. I got beautiful children so poker is no longer possible profession for me but still play recreational. Watching these people is always so much and I love playing along with them. Sometimes I can predict the exact amount they will bet and quite often close in range.

Airball had the best reaction after the hand with Mariano's straight flush. I was surprised how composed Andy was and Mariano looked a bit ill for second I guess that was in empathy to Andy for his loss. Crazy scary hand - Andy did everything right but lost. Congratz to Mariano for hanging with the big boys and coming out on top.

Watched it live and was soooo stoked to see that happen for you. The look on your face was unreal and the line that DGAF said about "a couple years ago he was playing 1/3 now he just won a pot of over 600K" that was so cool to see.
Poor Andy. Nut flush. 2nd nuts in the hand. How often do you run into a straight flush? Rarely.... very rarely. Andy had to wonder what you would raise him back with but there is no way he is going to fold to monsters under the bed. Except, sometimes there are monsters under the bed. What a cooler. Andy took it like a pro, major respect to him.
3rd nuts. The 4th diamond should have alerted him since Marianno would not have pushed all-in only with diamond K. Andy's hand is a bluff catcher!

@@MINNESOTA_PTSD Exactly. A straight flush is a rare hand. You just have to see it to believe the player has it. You can't fold to every "possible" better hand (monsters under the bed). You will get run over by large river bets. Andy had to call, and it was a major cooler.
@@newzero1000 the shove obviously did alert him to the fact that Marianno either was repping the nut flush on a bluff or had a str8 flush. nut flush simply has to lose money here vs better or what, u fold the nut flush to every river bluff

The crazy part about it is that calling all-in with 65s was the right call from an equity perspective. I'm sure Brad realized he was probably against AKos and an overpair.

Andy said later that he should have folded, so I dunno, waiting for a little while to shove might have ensured that Andy called (you can definitely get away from the A-high flush there)

@@petermaag9622 I'm honestly amazed by how often people on these streams will call $200k, $300k with two seconds of thought. I'm not saying to tank every time but maybe take, like, 15-20 seconds to think through making a call worth a couple BMW 7-series
Here is clear problem, that if Andy bluffed on turn with most likely Ad bluffs on river, then what is he bluffing on river and if he is not bluffing, then he definitely must fold some nut flushes here. Smaller bet on river for Andy was better clearly.
I hear people talking about how Mariano runs hot but my hunch is, can you even play the way he did in those pots? Like would you flat a 4-bet with aces with one person left to act? Would you 5-bet with suited connectors? Most likely no, so just enjoy the man building his empire! I really wish that i can meet you Mariano in person! Feel like he left after the stream , M has an edge on most those players so no need to get in gamble situations against brad preflop . I think Mariano likely didn't play him

@@MarianoPoker I had a feeling but didn't want to say it, even if you have an edge against brad the way he was playing you need 5 mill to endure the swings comfortably . It reminded me of Andy beal vs the top pros were he made stakes high enough to nullify the pros edge

The look of shock on your face, I could tell you felt bad scooping that pot, but man that’s just how the cards are sometimes. Andy knows that as well, he seemed to take it like a champ and he can more than handle this loss.

In this hand, people keep calling an ace high flush the 'nut flush', when it's obviously not the nuts. I know it's pedantic to point out, but that's how the internet works. Now it's your turn to tell me what an idiot I am, for some dumb reason.
It’s always admirable how you react (or don’t) when you win or lose. I like to pride myself that you couldn’t tell from my face if I just won or lost a 1000 BB pot, but yours is on another level.

Ok, so having AA vs KK vs KK was THE most amazing hand for 3/4’s of a million. Now you flop a straight flush vs a flopped nut flush and win a $600k+ pot. I didn’t have an adjective to describe what is beyond amazing so I went to Google. It came up a whole lot of words so I picked two and put them together. ASTONISHINGLY INCREDIBLE. Words that also describe your rocket leap from $1-$3 just 4 years ago in San Bernardino. So with that, Peace!

I dont play poker but follow enough of the high stakes streams that some players videos always pop up. Between this guy and Rampage, I really can't tell who is luckier and I had started saying that like around the time Rampage won some live event and posted vids about it thru out the tourney. And since then and all the high stakes games he and this Mariano have been on, my words have just rang true to this day. A lot of guys in poker play well, but only a few run at god like levels and this hand really sums it up what its like to just run above EV for years in poker.

I can understand why the sf cooler would be so interesting to a live player. But to an online grinder it ain't too special, happens once a month or so with good volume. You just brush it off, and sometimes, you're on the right side of it.
