Next time ask me, I would love to do this. It was in Bobcaygeon, I saw the constellations reveal themselves one star at a time. Two of my favourite Canadian music legends died from brain cancer ! ( Gord Downie - Tragically Hip & Neil Peart - Rush )
Well good sir I am four days into travelling with you and I have not been disappointed yet. I do agree with some of the other comments when they say that the morning start is so beautiful and picturesque. I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for us next.
I'm glad you're not disappointed yet, but there's still time! haha. Thank you. Yes the mornings were just so perfect, and they were a great incentive for waking up so much earlier than I do when I'm not on vacation!
Yes for sure! I don't blame you. The main reasons I decided to go to Lindsay are 1) I wanted to see every lock in the series and 2) I'd actually never visited Lindsay before and and this was the perfect opportunity to see it.
Hi CJ, I am enjoying this series, having watched all of it so far. It reminds me of the trips I made as a teenager across Ireland by narrowboat. Going across similar sized lakes on a flat bottomed boat was quite an adventure for us compared to the canal cruising that narrowboats are designed for. We did parts of the Shannon-Erne, Shannon, Grand canal, and Barrow navigations in one summer. Over 70 locks each way, mostly self operated and manual. Your journey is similar to the river Shannon navigation, the locks are similar sizes and there seems to be a similar amount of traffic. We had accommodation on the narrowboat, galley, hot shower, toilet, so we were pretty self contained. Looking back now I wonder why, like you, we typically overnighted near a lock or a designated mooring. I guess most of the adjoining land on your waterway is private, but in Ireland you could moor a boat pretty much anywhere. Keep it up!
Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying the adventure. I don't know very much about Ireland, but I never would have imagined something similar existed there. Those self operated locks sound really cool!
These videos have been a great way to revisit areas that I haven't seen in decades. It feels at times like I am right there with you. I am enjoying them.
I am enjoying this canoe trip. I appreciated the canoe bypass ramp at the Lindsay lock. Must be a lot of canoers and kayakers in this area. I've watched your bicycling trip videos and finding it ironic that on the bike trips you can camp in more out-of-the way camp grounds but during this canoe trip, you have to camp in more built up areas.
Thanks. Yes, it's a good observation. As it happens, this is a very unconventional type of canoe trip, and not the type that most experienced canoeists would consider.
I was not expecting Bobcaygeon to look like this. It's beautiful! Lots of camping options. This lock station was described to me as "party town" by a boater I met, so this is not at all what I was expecting to see.
Nice to see a running lunge into the water at the end of the day. The bird deterring "eyes" hanging over the boat reminded me of the scarecrow owl on the balcony. Is it feasible to rig a sail from your jacket?
Ya, similar idea as an owl, but probably more effective. I don't believe a jacket would be big enough to really make a difference. I've been on canoe trips where we've tried using a tent fly as a sail for a raft of 4 or 5 canoes. We found that holding the sail up is tiring, and even in a strong wind paddling is faster.

Thanks for another interesting video. The weather looked beautiful.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Great job on the videos. Love them!
Thank you!
Thanks again! You must have really. Enjoyed that wind all day. 29 km! I’ll be skipping Lindsay when I go seeing your trip. Excellent work

Beautiful! Awaiting Day 5 (And hoping that Day 5 is not the last)
Thanks. Nope, not the last!

Wow you definitely covered a good distance today..
For sure!
Job well done
Thanks!

It was a really nice surprise after the limited camping options that I had the previous two nights. Having a beach to swim at too was a bonus!
I loved the look of the perfectly still water when you set out in the morning...but having a tailwind is a wonderful thing!
Definitely! It was like a whole different river than the one I had paddled up the previous afternoon.
Love the videos!
Thanks!
Another interesting adventure, Thank you! Glad you were able to stay at a place that looks more like a campground. See you on day 5.
Thanks! It was nice pitching the tent in a spot which didn't have so much foot traffic for a change.
I honestly really liked the beautiful morning when you were canoeing in the morning l. There were no waves even throughout most of the entire day.
For sure, the mornings were always the best part of the day. The calmness of the River/Lakes made getting up so early every morning worth it.
Nice to see a running lunge into the water at the end of the day.
