    Great stuff! Thanks for sharing your Eureka moment. Entertaining - enlightening and fun to watch. I admire the patience and persistence of you two electrical wizards. Glad you solved the problem and saved a bundle. Happy trails ahead with the Husky! -Steve-

    Cheers to Ivan. Riley, I think you owe him a case of beer! Wiring problems can be the most challenging to diagnose. I have a BMW R1200GSA that would intermittently activate the traction control when there was no loss of traction. The ECU diagnostics indicated a failed wheel speed sensor. But swapping a speed sensor from another bike did not resolve the problem. After studying the wiring diagram and identifying two wires that provided data from the ABS unit to the ECU it was discovered one of the two was broken internally. There was no break in the insulation. A new wire was spiced in and the problem was fixed. Had I taken the bike to the dealer I would have had a bill in the thousands of dollars.

      I've heard similar stories of wires that are broken but without any external signs. A real nightmare and one most dealers I don't think would solve very efficiently. With the hourly shop rates being what they are the bill would get expensive really fast.

    Wow that is crazy, just a couple of worn wires in the wrong place at the wrong time. My 701SM hadn’t missed a beat in 15000kms but this sort of thing worries me. Thank you to Ivan for showing how simple this problem can be caused but identified with such complexity😉

    • @AwesomePlayers

      So far on this bike all the problems have been electrical. Burned up the stator at the end of last season. I do run a heated vest in the cold so that probably didn't help. Ivan really showed me that for the electrical stuff you need to be methodical in your approach.

    Congrats on figuring it out. Subscribed. I saw a vid of a dealership (can't remember), that greased the plug behind the headlight for the kill switch before they even let it out the door cause that plug is always hot. Ty for the vid.

    Ever notice the main problems with the Mighty DR were physical damage, ie ripped off turn signals or petcocks?
    The 800s its bearings.
    The rest seem to have internal failures, electrical problems, etc.

    • @AwesomePlayers
      @AwesomePlayers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They all seem to have there weak points. I guess the key is just knowing what they are for your model and being prepared. I have been carrying a multi meter for years as electrical troubleshooting without one is tough.

    So I have a Vitpilen 701 and probably have the same problem. It says it has a lot of errors and also starts without the key... I really hope it is the same problem as you have. I do have to find the location where the short happens... Will probably take a while and not that much of electrical knowledge

    I have a 701sm which I got used bike was working fine then I removed all the plastics inc headlight to do some cleaning ect Bike is not starting fuel pump and starter work but seems there's no spark going to the spark plugs. Can't find what caused it

    • @AwesomePlayers
      @AwesomePlayers  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If it was one of the safety switches, the bike would not crank. I’m guessing the fuel line quick disconnect on the left side of the bike is not fully seated.

      I have heard of a few cases. I also found some wear on my wiring harness at the front of the bike and and made a few repairs. I think keeping an eye on any spots the wiring could rub is about all you can do. Also having the wiring diagram and a multi-meter comes in handy when you do have to troubleshoot. And most importantly know someone like Ivan.

    Hello! My 701 randomly stops. Did you hear about this problem?

    • @AwesomePlayers
      @AwesomePlayers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would start with battery connections. Then make sure all fuses are good and well seated as well the relays. Once the bike is running I would wiggle the wiring harness under the seat and seat if it switches off. If so it is a broken wire in the big bundle under the fuse box.
