    So glad to find the man who had taken an overdose. In my worst mental health episodes I've been picked up by the police more times than I can remember after overdosing and they have mostly always been pleasant in getting me some help. I'm now applying to the police myself to see if I can help others now I am largely recovered from mental health issues.

      It’s an awful experience, my sister was burgled twice . Her kids would save up their pocket money and change from school tuck money towards their summer holiday spending money . After one burglary my nephew was wasting his money buying junk sweets etc he didn’t usually do so my mum asked him why he wasn’t going to save it ? His answer breaks my heart “why should I go without for some tramp to steal it when I’m at school and my mum and dad at work ?” .
      The second burglary was the day before my younger nephews 4th birthday . My mum had gone to collect the kids from school as my sister and her husband were still at work . She was literally out the house ten minutes and came back to the house ransacked and the burglar had emptied one of the kids rucksacks to put the stolen goods in . They had opened the birthday cards that said “happy 4th birthday “ and stole the money out of them !!!!
      How low ?
      My sister said the feelings horrible because you looking at ppl thinking “is it them?” and “do they think my house is a mess ?” I don’t know why she would care what a burglar thinks of the cleanliness of her house (she is very house proud,) . However she said you have crazy thoughts

    If you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to keep someone warm, with no other place for them to go but on the ground, make sure you put a coat or blanket BENEATH them. A cold floor will pull a lot of warmth away from a body.

    I hope the UK laws have changed so that domestic violence is regarded as an activity that negatively impacts the society and thus justifies the government charging the abuser whether the partner wants charges or not. We used to use the UK way in the USA, but it wasn't very good at stopping the abuser from bad actions in the future.

    I wish all police shows were like this; Although I find it a bit disappointing that the only type of police show like this focuses exclusively on women (maybe the executives only approved it in this instance?), I think that it's so much more valuable to see how the job of the police has an effect on the police officers, and reminds us that they're human beings just like us.
    Where most police shows like Police Interceptors focus exclusively on the bravado police action of chasing dangerous criminals and arresting them, this series shows us how police officers can take the role of being the last line of support for a suicidal person, or a figure of consolation for an elderly person who has had their house broken into. It also shows the sheer physical requirements of the job: Working anti-social, 10 hour shifts 6 days a week where you see all manner of horrific things obviously takes a toll on the officers, and this show focuses on that.
    If any presentation of the police by media is going to help improve relations between the police and the public, it's this. It's not an apologetic sob story for the officers, nor does it imply that their job is all about catching crims and locking them up. It just shows them as people, with their own emotional struggles and coping mechanisms, working their demanding yet rewarding job.

    Gah. Police should automatically press charges in domestic assault/abuse cases. Leaving the decision to the abused person leaves them open to further abuse whether they press charges or not.

    “Unless the woman decides to press charges…..”
    Total nonsense. Putting the baffling use of American terms aside, it is the police or the CPS who decide whether or not to charge a person with an offence. A victim can choose to support the prosecution or not and this may have an effect on whether or not a person is charged. However victims do not “press charges”.

    • @yeahyeah4433
      @yeahyeah4433 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah its normally the CPS, on behalf of the police I think, Or it might be the police, but yeah civilians can press charges I think in civil cases, but criminal cases are always prosecuted via the police/cps I think dont quote me. But I think civil charges is dependant on pressing charges, for example domestic abuse the victim must decide to press charges, unless its really violent then its a criminal case. Not 100% tho. Some other guy commented about it not being under a threat to society, so the CPS wont prosecute unless the victim asks them to, same goes with street fights as well unless its serious, just a small fight, its up to you whether you press charges.

      @popazz1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would suggest that officers will make a swift assessment as to what action to take, i.e. as happened here when it was decided to cuff the man. It could be that as it was female officers dealing with him that he was puffing out his chest, challenging them because of their gender. As this was a domestic abuse accusation this may have prompted the officers to immediately cuff him. Had he continued or escalated his aggressive behaviour then no doubt he would have ended up on the ground. Also the threats to physically harm the officers would be in their official report.
