Mike Gundy could win 7 consecutive national championships, negotiate Middle East peace, get the Kardashians canceled and cure cancer and he’d still be remembered as the “I’M A MAN, I’M 40!” guy.
Not an Alabama fan, but this is what makes Saban the GOAT. Not focused on everyone else and what they think, but focused solely on the guys he coaches and bettering them as athletes and maybe even as young men. Also, I’m convinced that Mike Leach is a national treasure.

Leach's interview where he describes the mascots is like a bit on NBCs Park and Rec. Leach while way out West at Wazzu,was a regular interview for Bham, Alabama relationship show on Sat nights during the off-season. This because he was so fun to interview.

I remembered Joe Kines being interim coach at ARKANSAS but he was at BAMA too?? There was a scandal. He was almost offered Oklahoma State....the fan base erupted.. if he wasn't good enough to be Arkansas full time coach how was he good enough for State? Was he ever a straight-up "NON INTERIM Head Coach?"
A low point in Crimson Tide history. Joe Kines was an interim coach after Mike Shula's firing. The 2006 Independence Bowl team that lost to a mediocre Okla State in Shreveport to go ish 6-7. Kines exits stage left then Nick comes in two weeks later.
When Dan Hawkins said “it’s the big 12!”….I teared up in solidarity with coach.

He gets upset when the media and fans act like they're unbeatable. Recently he called it rat poison, basically the players hear that stuff and think they're the greatest so they ease up on effort. Thats how you lose.
