    are relatives considered angle investor?

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm… not really Orcus. There is something called informally as a “family and friends funding round” - this comes before an angel round. However, if you have a family member who is also a regular startup investor, maybe a wealthy uncle or aunt or something, then they might qualify as an angel. There’s actually a definition for who qualifies as an angel set out by GOI, I think it’s RBI. They need to have a specific net worth to be eligible if I’m remembering correctly. -Caleb

      @@backstagewithmillionaires being a noob, I didn't quite understand. Why can't you do it with your Indian money?

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Saurabh, it’s something to do with company ownership. If an Indian national wants to invest in an Indian company, that’s considered a local, Indian investment, so the money can come from an Indian bank account. If a non-Indian foreigner wants to invest in an Indian company though, that’s considered an FDI (foreign direct investment) and so the money needs to enter India via wire transfer from a foreign bank. Foreign investor + local bank INR transaction is not allowed as far as I know. -Caleb

    angel is a biblical terminology representing God - anyways businesses want to use the term.

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Fredrick, the term borrows more heavily from the idea of _guardian angels_ actually. The idea is that every person has a guardian angel who is watching them silently from heaven throughout their life, and if something bad happens to that person, the guardian angel may come and rescue them at the last second. So I cultures/religions with angels, people will sometimes thank their guardian angel when they narrowly avoided death. This carries over the angel investors who used to keep Broadway productions alive - the production may have been just about to go bankrupt, and then the angel would step in to save it. And now with startups, it’s the same idea - angels keep the startup from running out of funds and going out of business. -Caleb
