So, like in mathematics we learned that 'all functions are relations but not all relations are functions', in the same light can we say a quantity surveyor(QS) can function as building surveyors(BS) while not all BS may necessarily function as a QS? In other words, is a QS more marketable than a BS, if you will?

The biggest waste of money you can get. Homebuyers report is full of caveats and disclaimers to cover the surveyers backside. All say 'you may want to do this etc. They mark a 3 for electrics, plumbkng and heating even if they were newly installed the day before. An absolute con......
They mark it as a 3 because even if it was installed the day before, unless they see a certificate proving that it was, it needs to be tested by a qualified person, surveyors are not qualified to do that. If a surveyor didn't mark the condition rating as a 3 and god forbid it was to explode or cause further problems then the homeowner would be the first one to say the surveyor was liable for he damage etc. To be fair you don't have to get one of you don't want, yet it's done for people's piece of mind.
