Likely they based those games on this movie. I mean Sin Du even looks like the evil old guy from that game, well, at least with his mask on

This is basically every anime that cares more about fanservice than the actual plot condensed into one movie! The only thing's missing is an extended beach scene.

angus scrimm actually being in this movie is like bela lugosi in an ed wood movie. sad. yet, while ed wood went about his buisness with grim determination and serious intent , but ended up making people laugh, this movie may well be a parody that looks as if it's creators had all the determination of ed wood. by the way, the scene with the skull chopped off with a battle axe and disappearing into the pit may be modelled after the ending scene of the computer game barbarians 2...

You really should do Chopping Mall. The opening credits scene is the most 80s thing I've ever seen.

After seeing this review I had to watch this. And for a movie that's just made as a tax write-off? It is actually pretty good. Sure it is tongue in cheeck tits&ass ridiculous stuff, but it was great fun. The acting is hammy on purpose and you get the feel that this is like Samurai Cop except nobody took it seriously, not even the director. :)

That looks like so much cheesy fun. It seemed like the cast was running with it as well rather than being downcast at its schlockiness. Good for them.
I was a teenager in the early 80's and I work for a while in a Video Store, yet somehow, I missed Lost Empire.
I don't know why but, I keep thinking of Monkey Island every time you say Lee Chuck I think of LeChuck and I think that Lee is LeChuck Asian brother or something

The bald guy in this "film", was my neighbor when I lived in West Hollywood in the late 70's as a kid. That guy was in a ton of these flicks. Bob Tessie Rules!

This movie is definitely my cup of tea teas.
Oddly enough. They did seem to have done a small bit of research, as “Lemurians” come Crome the mythical island (or planet) known as Lemur. This is a legend right alongside Atlantis.
Fun fact: the original version of lemuria was that of a theoretical continent that connected India, Madagascar and I think for some reason Australia in order to try to explain the dispersal of lemurs (and related primates) before the theory of continental drift took its place as a more sensical answer. The mystical “lemuria” developed out of that originally scientific theory during the esotericism and mysticism craze of the Victorian and Edwardian ages and also spawned ideas such as the mythical continent of Mu and a lot of the beginnings pseudo-mythology that was later taken up by large chunks of the nazi party in Germany later on (though that pseudo-mythology wasn’t really used as genocide justification until they took it up).
I wonder if the band Therion were fans of this film?
You should really check out the Blind Dead movies - Tombs of the Blind Dead, Return of the Blind Dead, The Ghost Galleon, and Night of the Seagulls.

The original movies had charm and style about them. The new installment was awkward, a cringe fest, stupid at times, and a bit strange. They waited too long for a 4th movie in my opinion.

Interesting bit of trivia: The Dominatrix in the prison fight scene was played by Angelique Prettyjohn, who also appeared in the Star Trek episode: The Gamesters of Triskellion. Even if it makes me a terrible person, I still love this movie. It's completely unashamed to be what it is.

Strangely this movie has two actors from Phantasm. Main heroine's dead brother was Jodie in there - also main character's kinda dead brother.
I actually suspect this movie may have been inspired by Robert E. Howard's pulp adventure story "Skull Face"-it also features a cult-leading, semi-supernatural 20th century* crime boss who's described as looking pretty much like this movie's main villain's unmasked form.
(*Fun fact of the day: for those unaware, Robert E. Howard, creator of Conan, actually did write a number of stories that took place in the present day. Quite a few of them on adventurous, completely non-fantastic subjects. The More You Know!)
