Its a good thing that city population started to disperse away from Manila so our country can start to develop a much more richer economy. As a Filipino and soon to be an Urban Planner. I would like to take steps more on dispersing population outside Metropolitan Manila.
As you can see the reign of Manila is very long actually Manila is the Capital since 1571 tho sometimes they move it out of Manila but they still bring it back. Manila is the Capital city. It is also the center of everything in the country of for many years the most populous city in the country.
How sad. Batangas was once the most populated, most progressive, developed and richest province before. Now, it's only the 3rd richest province in the country.
davao city is the biggest city in the philippines❤️ In terms of area Davao City is the biggest, it has 2,443.61 km² or about a 244,361 hectares, in comparison to the Greater Metro Manila(comprised of 16 cities and one municipality) having 619.6 km² or about 61,960 hectares. The whole of Cebu Island, which includes Cebu City and its surrounding Municipalities/ Districts and Cities has 315 km² or 31,500 hectares in total land area. Keeping that in mind, about 4 Metro Manila’s could easily fit in the whole area of Davao City and almost 8 times the area of Cebu City is equivalent to Davao City’s total area. When you consider the population, Metro Manila has about 13 million residents, Cebu City just well over 900,00 and Davao City only has a little over 1.6 million residents. In this case though Davao City has the biggest area it is still one of the least populated among the 3 cities. Having resided in all these cities, Davao City still has the better quality of life, fresh air, least cost of living, ease of access to water and most of all it is in a Typhoon-Free location.
A few things I've learned from this. Davao city is bigger than Cebu city. Maybe because I've always thought of the entire Metro Cebu as representing Cebu itself. Four of the biggest cities are in Mindanao, and I think that is a good thing. The entire Metro Manila really is a beast than what I can visually imagine
