Its a good thing that city population started to disperse away from Manila so our country can start to develop a much more richer economy. As a Filipino and soon to be an Urban Planner. I would like to take steps more on dispersing population outside Metropolitan Manila.
As you can see the reign of Manila is very long actually Manila is the Capital since 1571 tho sometimes they move it out of Manila but they still bring it back. Manila is the Capital city. It is also the center of everything in the country of for many years the most populous city in the country.
How sad. Batangas was once the most populated, most progressive, developed and richest province before. Now, it's only the 3rd richest province in the country.
davao city is the biggest city in the philippines❤️ In terms of area Davao City is the biggest, it has 2,443.61 km² or about a 244,361 hectares, in comparison to the Greater Metro Manila(comprised of 16 cities and one municipality) having 619.6 km² or about 61,960 hectares. The whole of Cebu Island, which includes Cebu City and its surrounding Municipalities/ Districts and Cities has 315 km² or 31,500 hectares in total land area. Keeping that in mind, about 4 Metro Manila’s could easily fit in the whole area of Davao City and almost 8 times the area of Cebu City is equivalent to Davao City’s total area. When you consider the population, Metro Manila has about 13 million residents, Cebu City just well over 900,00 and Davao City only has a little over 1.6 million residents. In this case though Davao City has the biggest area it is still one of the least populated among the 3 cities. Having resided in all these cities, Davao City still has the better quality of life, fresh air, least cost of living, ease of access to water and most of all it is in a Typhoon-Free location.

How could Cebu City be left out as it's the second most important city, historically the second most populated and the oldest city in the country? Cebu City has always been the second largest city (next to Manila) in terms of population as this video is all about. In 1903, Cebu City's population was already 45,000 while on this video, Cebu City is not yet in top 15 which is funny as the bottom ranked city, Antipolo, had just a little over 3,000 people. In 1918, there were already 65,500 residents in Cebu City but in this video it was still not ranked while the bottom ranked city, Cabanatuan, only had over 15,000 inhabitants. By 1939, Cebu City had already 146,800 inhabitants. It's funny that in this video Cebu City is not yet in top 15 in 1950 but it suddenly shot up to 2nd most populated in 1951, in just one year. If you analyze it carefully, in 1950, the bottom ranked city was San Fernando (La Union) with a population of 39,000 inhabitants. That means, since Cebu City was out of top 15, Cebu City must have a population of less than 39,000 in 1950. According to this video, in just one year, the population of Cebu City suddenly grew to 183,000! That's a massive, massive increase of 140,000 people in one single year! Isn't it crazy?
