  • To the great corridors of the United Kingdom’s canal system, some 2.700 miles connected and around 4,000 miles overall, there is enough of our great heritage, our birthright, to explore for every child interested in becoming expert in learning about our rich historic and world revered infrastructure.

What an opportunity, visiting as part of a recent visit to Nottingham, my birthplace in January 1964.

I'm a Wollaton lad myself and the derelict canal was a major part of my childhood. I had written a piece about it to post which disappeared into the ether the moment I clicked on 'Comment'. I'll rewrite it later when I have more time (and battery power).

Aw, wow, my family lived on Selston Drive, originally from Radford, but their home was demolished in the 70’s. Happier days back then, be great to hear more. 👍🏼
