I am discovering these old westerns and really enjoying them. Not familiar with Reb Russell as much as John Wayne or Roy Rogers butbut I’m enjoying the movies you are providing
In about this time started the movie series Hopalong Cassidy, and what a difference between this movie and the Hopalong Cassidy movies, that's why it was the most successful movie series from the mid 30's to the 50's ...
This comment brings back memories. Back in the day stables rented horses by the hour or half day cheaply. I would take a girl friend to a barn and she would hire an horse and run it while I waited for for her. After watching a couple of Saturday afternoon westerns, I figured that I knew how to ride a horse - whip and spur my mount to run it, and then jerk the reins hard back to stop my horse. So, I asked to ride with her. And after the first couple off rides, there was a learning curve with some lessons to learn. And there were many more that learned to ride the same way I did. From what I have gathered over the years, many rental horses were ridden too hard either unintentionally or intentionally by their riders. Too many poor rental horses were crippled, broke a leg or run to death obeying their riders. Go back some years, can you picture yourself riding rental horses with your girl friend, rounding a tree line and seeing a few of mounted riders and one person cussing out a fallen horse with a broken leg. When I asked what happened, one of the mounted riders said they were taking turns running their horses across a ditch and the fallen horse tripped and didn't make it. And if you ask around, there are more horror stories from livery horse workers or patrons.
I love these old westerns. Life was a lot harder back then.

I had never seen this Reb Russell movie before, thanks for posting it!
I believe westerns were better in older days than they are today,at least their were no foul talk,it was all clean.(family could watch it.)
Really enjoyed watching. Thank you 🤠

Nice movie👌 , should be restored and remastered , as Hopalong Cassidy's 'Texas trail'
what made this movie were gabby beardless and the horse..the horse stole the show.
great movie...thank you. 👍👍
You're welcome
👍 to 👀 this good story 👋
A new cowboy hero to watch.
Rebel deserved an Oscar.
for worst actor of the year.
Cool
If its black & white its for me! Thank you.
You're welcome!
This reminds of a movie Bob Steel starred in.
GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!
At least they rode the horses more gently. In many cowboy films they ride the horses so hard it´s like they´re trying to kill them.

One of those few times when Gabby didn't have a beard.
This is "George" Hayes~ he didn't start being "Gabby" till later on.
